Comments and likes posted on an album post do not show on the main, or group dashboard
Hi Dennis,

The stream is actually for single photo instead of entire albums hence the comment that were made on the album will not appear on the single photo stream. If you comment on that photo stream, the comment will appear on the single photo page itself.

If there are multiple photos in the stream, it will be counted as photos album stream hence the comment made from the stream will be shown on the album page. Refer to these two url here, http://cwga.ca/index.php/stream/item/9158 (stream item) and http://cwga.ca/index.php/groups/16-buysell/albums/1949-browning-a-bolt-in-30-06-sell-trade (album page)

Hope these help.

Hi Ezrul, actually my comment was on the album, not on the photo.. if you look at the single photo there is no comment on it.. I posted that comment on the album itself. This also happened with the 1.4.x versions but was fixed.. it seems to have appeared again.. I will test this on my dev site and get back to you.

If an album is created, the dashboard should not create a photo item post.. it should create an album stream. it will be very confusing to users where two separate conversions could be had and users will not see each other.

Hi Dennis,

Since you are uploading one photo in the album, the generated stream will be based on the single photo stream. Hence the comment posted on the albums will not appear on the single photos stream.

Try to at least upload two photos in the albums and the comment should be sync together on both stream and albums page.

I understand what you are saying.. but an album, should be treated as an album no matter how many photo's it contains. This will create confusion if an album with two photo's, is treated and displayed differently than an album with one photo.

Compare this with Facebook.. if a user created an album with one photo, comments will be synchronous between views.. it is treated and displayed the same as an album with two photo's.

Hi Dennis,

Thank you for your kind concern and suggestion. I will log this into the codebase and we will see if we can improvise this behavior in the future release of EasySocial.

Hello Ezrul, I just updated my site info for my development site.. feel free to comment on anything.. I already have two steams with one photo, and another album with two photos. You can see they are treated differently when they both should be treated as albums no matter how many photos' they contain.

Thanks !

Hi Dennis,

There are some drawback with the idea above to be honest. What if user comment on the single photo stream and when they trying to view the single photo page, the comment that they made is not there? Instead the comment is located in the album page.

Refer my demonstration video here if we implement this behavior in current version of easysocial, http://take.ms/aw9jk .

The current behavior should be the correct behavior where when user comment on the stream that contain one photo, the comment will appear on the photo itself and not the album.

Hope you understand.

Hi, if a user wants to comment on a single photo, they can by clicking on the photo and commenting. If a user posts an album, members should be able to comment on the album.

It should be no different than a user posting an album with two photos and members being able to click on each photo and put a different comment. Comments can also be put on the album itself, which does not show on individual photos.. this in my opinion is a bug as ES is treating albums differently depending on how many photos it has.

The main dashboard also indicated the user put a photo in the album, so by commenting on that stream item it should be posting to the album, not a separate stream item that will not be seen by other users by createing two separate groups of comments for the same album.

It has already caused confusion with members on my website.

The same issue were also fixed on the 1.4.x version by Raymond ( if I remember correctly ) if you check my ticket history.

I just watched your video and I think you are misunderstanding what I am trying to explain. I will make a video so you can see what I mean more clearly. Please take a look at my dev site which I put in the details already. I have several comments from different parts of the website, the same album does not show them depending on where you are looking.

I don't want album comments to appear on the photos, I understand that would be a bad way of doing it. I am saying ES should not treat an album with one photo differently than an album with two photos. It is still an album.

Hi Dennis,

Hm. I think I did not explain it clearly. Let me try to explain it again but this time we use Facebook as example.

When user create an album and then upload a single photo to the album, the stream generated will be linked to the photos itself, hence the comment and like will also linked to that photo. However when user create an album and then upload 2 or more photos into the albums at once, the stream generated will contain the aggregation of photos and the stream will be related with the photos album itself. The photos album stream comment and like will also be linked to the albums. Refer my video example from Facebook here for a better view, http://take.ms/cMi42 .

Easysocial was using the same behavior since 1.0 and by right this should be the correct behavior on how albums and photos stream should work.

Hope you can understand better this time.
