This relates to: https://stackideas.com/forums/group-category-layout-sidebar-random-groups-shows-all-and-pointless-member-data

I can't post there as it's been locked.. but I just wanted to point out:

1) If you're going to make it display x number of really random groups under the title 'Random Groups' and then have a 'View All' - that's fine... but...
2) If you're going to make it display x number of non-random groups (as is the current behaviour) and then have a 'View All'..... could you please display them in alpha order rather than most-recent created which seems to be the current approach?

My personal preference I think is (2) if the 'View All' opens them all in the sidebar... but if the 'View All' is going to open the groups view page in the main content area then maybe (1) makes more sense!

Anyhow.. many thanks for addressing this!.. and please remember as well as the 'view all', the 'number count' for the team members needs adding in as it currently just says 'Members' next to each team.

(If you need to view this page I'm talking about on my site I've moved it from mysite.com/test to mysite.com/esc/teams)

Thanks!
It will be sorted by their creation date as latest groups would appear first.

OK that's going to get my users asking me "Why are they sorted this way" - Maybe when the new version comes out I'll be able to find a way to apply a code hack to it and show them alphabetically. If that's an easy code hack I'd appreciate a pointer to the file to look at.

We'll consider and see if it should be sorted alphabetically but right now it makes more sense to sort them by the latest group created on the site.

OK thanks as always Mark. Whatever you go with, you're the experts. My user experience input into the discussion is that my users have to find their team in the list - and it's easier to do that when it's alpha than when it's by created date (which actually to them would be seemingly totally random!)

Noted, thanks for the input on this. My preference is to get these groups appear under the "activities" area instead because I believe it weighs more than the streams being generated there.

Oh well, we could eventually add filters on the sidebar since a category is somewhat like filter too. Let's see what we can do to this in the near future
