Hm, it is unfortunately not possible because as soon as the group is closed, their stream items cannot be accessed by anyone unless they are a member of the group.

thank you for your answer. There could be some administrative groups, that want to inform users by public blogposts, but dont want everybody to join the group. So it might be usefull, to have another group of this kind too.

I guess a much simple work around for what you were trying to achieve, is to create a public group but only allow admins of the group to post since there is a post permission custom field, http://take.ms/unh6n?

Hello Mark, thank you for this suggestion, this might help and avoid something, we dont want to, but is not, what we wanted to achieve, as everybody can join these groups. However this is a way to not let them post in the group at least.

For example a group of staff wants to inform with public posts on frontpage. If you are interested, you can go to the group and read all post after another. But it does not make sense for people to join this group.
