Hello, my site has become traumatized with images (mostly these resized images). I have over 90,000 files. I want to clean up images I'm not using.

IN /easyblog_articles/xx/ there are thumbnail/small/medium/large image sizes. I know the sizes being used in my article. Can I safely delete all these other images?

IN /imgcache/ theres tons of images with dimension sizes. Can I clear out this folder? Not sure whats pointing here...

IN /easyblog_images/ theres duplicates of the same images from /easyblog_articles......

IN /Resized/ theres duplicates of the same images from /easyblog_articles......

IN /easyblog_shared/ .... is empty. Can I delete the whole folder?

I have asked before, but is there anything I can be doing in my EasyBlog backend to prevent the unnecessary creation of all these additional image files I will never use?

Thank you
Hey there,

I wouldn't advise you to remove these images. These different sizes were created to speed up the loading time of your page. Imagine if your image is 2000 x 2000. For the blog post to finish rendering the page, it would be extremely slow. Therefore these different image sizes are used for different scenarios.

If you know exactly which image size is being used, you may clear them if you want.

Thank you.

Why do I have duplicate image sizes in these folders though? What is the purpose of image cache folder? Can this be cleaned out every so often?

The purpose is to ensure that your blogs doesn't use large image size when it is not necessary. If your image is 5000x5000, just imagine how slow would your blog post load up

I get the purpose. What I don't get is why I have similar folders with the same image dimensions - as I mentioned in my first post. It's repetitive and taking up space. So I'd like to know why these folders have the same images in them. Do you agree only 1 image should be referenced at any time?

There is considerable cleanup that can be done in some or all these folders and I'd like a clear cut response on my original question please.

What do you mean by the same image dimensions? If the image is larger, it will be resized but if the image is not huge, there will not be any resizing but we need to standardize the name for these images otherwise it would be a hassle to check for different images when rendering the blog.
