On version 3 of Easyblog I used to be able to choose a picture that would come up with the post on Facebook.... (to be honest I didn't really understand how it worked BUT on Facebook either the default picture post I had uploaded called "default_facebook.png" would be posted as standard or sometimes it would choose a picture either from the main page of the blog or the blog pic on the right hand side - at least some picture came up!!)

Now it seems that Easyblog 5 is far more focused on options for each individual blogger (which is fine except for me it ends up being a bit more work as the BLOG is more important to me than whoever posts to it - this is just my situation and maybe it's different for other people...).
So the blogger picture comes up as default (and in my case I don't seem to be able to change it in any of my websites for some reason so it's just a generic avatar icon) but I would like to have the choice of which picture comes up in facebook when I either autopost to facebook or simply copy my blog article url to facebook... How can I achieve this? (and it that something to do with OpenGraph?)

Many thanks, Kyle.

P.s overall I think there could be more hover over tips for what does what in the blog composer window... eg if I add a picture in the blog does that become the default pic when autoposting to social media sites? If I add a cover photo where does that actually appear? what's the difference in the blog between APPLY and Publish Post when either creating or editing a blog post? maybe even a preflight summary before a post is posted would be handy so we know off hand whether we've added SEO, whether there's the default picture setup, which social platform will be posted too etc... just an idea...
Hey Kyle,

The reason that you can't change the avatar is because the option "Enable Avatar " has been disabled. I have enabled this for you and was able to update the avatar

By the way, it is advisable that you use a post cover image for all your blog posts in the future. This way, EasyBlog knows which is the primary image for your blog post that you would like to use for your blog post

Hey Kyle,

Do you mean if the post didn't upload any image, it will show blogger default avatar image instead of your custom default Facebook image in Facebook?

Is it possible provide us with your Joomla backend, FTP and Facebook access so we can check on this? (You can update your site details into http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site )

eg if I add a picture in the blog does that become the default pic when autoposting to social media sites? If I add a cover photo where does that actually appear?

if your have uploaded one of the image into your blog post, it will show the image in your Facebook.
May i know is it didn't show the correct image into your Facebook?

what's the difference in the blog between APPLY and Publish Post when either creating or editing a blog post?

If you click APPLY button, it will publish the post and system will ask you continue writing or close it.
If you click Publish post button, it will directly publish the post and redirect back to blog listing page.

Hi Arlex,

My latest blog post was a bit of text with a Youtube video on it.
When I posted to Facebook then only the Avatar image came up and a bit of text... no picture... I was hoping to change this for the next post I publish....

I have put the site AlwynWalker.com details in the Dashboard like you requested.

I am unable to change the avatar pic for my username as a SuperUser Kyle
Indeed I don't seem to be able to update any of the avatar pics.
Can you check what is happening here? (I have the same issue on my other sites too for some reason...).

OK thank you for clarifying the difference between Apply and Publish.

PLEASE clarify what was done to the server or websites that might have caused this issue.
These are all business websites I have running and it is how I make my money.
PLEASE can you let me know as this needs fixed ASAP.

Hey Kyle,

The only change I did was:

1. Enabled avatars
2. Uploaded an avatar for the "Super User".

By the way, the site works fine for me. How is this down?

Ok so strangely the server is now working correctly again!!

I don't know if StackIdeas did something to either break it, then fix it or whether something completely unrelated happened and it was just coiencedence that the issue happened just after you guys made changes...

Anyway I'm very relieved! Phew!!

I guess it's totally unrelated because all I did was merely a change of a settings and uploaded a new avatar. If doing that crashes your hosting's server, please look for a new host

Hi Mark, that's grand thanks. It's all working and has been for a while. I've just been so busy that I haven't had time to reply until now!

Happy New Year and thanks again Mark
