Hi,

I'm trying to change the editor from the new EasyBlog Composer to one of the other Joomla editors I've installed - either JoomlaCK or JCE. The version of EasyBlog installed is 5.0.6.

However, I've changed the setting under Settings -> General -> Composer but it seems to have no effect, it's still using the EasyBlog composer. However, the setting does get saved but doesn't seem to make any difference.

I've also tried changing the setting of the Author (tested Use Default, JoomlaCK, none.....) but again seems to have no effect.

Have you got any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mike
Hello Mike,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

The alternative editor does now show up for new posts however a lot of the toolbar buttons don't work (we're using JoomlaCK although I've just tested it with TinyMCE).

I believe this issue has been fixed with the latest release of easyblog 5.0.9. Perhaps you can try to install it and see how it goes? It should also fix the pop-up box issue that you are facing as well.

Hi Mike Taylor and John,

Sorry for late reply to this,

That would be best if you can provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can take a look of this?

Before you provide the access, may i know is it upgraded from Easyblog 3.9?

Same here. New install of 5.0.7. I use Joomla CK. Editor in a Joomla 2.5.28 environment.
Changing the EasyBlog Editor to Composer, still shows the CK editor. Changing users or changing the Joomla default editor does not help

JoomlaCK - http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-06-19_1140.png
CodeMirror - http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-06-19_1142.png
None - http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-06-19_1143.png
EasyBlog Composer - http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-06-19_1144.png

After change the editor, please make sure your Author's editor has been set as use default. You can find this setting in Components > EasyBlog > Author > [Choose the author]. http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-06-19_1144.png

Hope this help

Thanks for the quick feedback. Indeed, this solved the issue. I was not aware, that the author's editor settings needed to be set to "Use Default", but makes sense of course. Thanks, good piece of Joomla software !

Hi Izzan,

Thanks for looking into this - I think I've found out why it looked like it worked when you tested it.

If you change the editor, then go into an existing post which was created using the EasyBlog composer then it still uses the EasyBlog composer. It looks like it ignores the current setting.

However, if you change the editor and then create a new post then it will use the new editor setting.

I have the same and a related issue. I set my editor to Easyblog composer and also my author editor to default. Still no change with existing posts.

Also, when i click to full screen editing with my CKEditor, the window is grayed out and does not allow me to do ANY editing. I see two red x marks too for window closing which is strange. Please advise how to troubleshoot. Will keep experimenting.

I'd like to be able to use the EasyBlog composer and still have full screen editing capability. Not seeing how to do this.

The versions are confusing. Would like to be able to turn off versions and have it just default to one version for each post. please advise if there is a way to do this.

Yes, this is current default behaviour. because if we didn't do this such checking, it will messed the blog content.
Example : If I insert a lot of block element in my composer blog and published it, after that I change to another editor as TINY-MCE, so it do not know how to generate a same content like composer.

Hi Howard Sambol,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

May i know your existing blog post is it created from Easyblog 3.9?

If yes, it will follow back what editor you use to created this existing blog post.

by the way, It seems like you have reported some issues here, can you provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can troubleshoot on this? If can, create a new post thread regarding with your current issues.

Thanks for cooperation.

Hi,

The alternative editor does now show up for new posts however a lot of the toolbar buttons don't work (we're using JoomlaCK although I've just tested it with TinyMCE).

It seems to be all those that would usually make use of a pop-up box such as insert image, insert link etc. - presumably this is because EasyBlog is now shown in its own pop-up box and therefore won't allow another to be layered on top?

Hi,

Yes, v5.0.9 seems to have fixed it - can now use JoomlaCK as the default editor if required.

As a side note, it's also fixed the issue that other users reported about not being able to change the publish time / date.

Thanks a lot,

Mike

One big unanswered question is how I can use composer and still get all the text editing features that I need that are available before such as ability to create embedded links, colored text, etc? The composer is a crippled editor.

Second critical item is ability to save posts unpublished!! Still unclear how to do this. PLEASE make this simple and easy.

Lastly, please create an option to eliminate versions of posts!! This drives me crazy. I keep seeing more versions and have to delete them. I bet that 95% of your users do not need this. Please allow us to turn versions off.

hi Howard Sambol,

Sorry for late reply to this,

One big unanswered question is how I can use composer and still get all the text editing features that I need that are available before such as ability to create embedded links, colored text, etc? The composer is a crippled editor.

You can change the font color when you highlight the word from the text block, you can take a look of my screenshot http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-06-23_2344.png (The text editing panel from the right hand side in the composer).
If you would like to create an embedded links, you can click on "add block" and choose the embed block.
Check my short video link : http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-06-23_2335.swf

Second critical item is ability to save posts unpublished!! Still unclear how to do this. PLEASE make this simple and easy.

Thanks for reporting, I will consult with our developer regarding this.

Lastly, please create an option to eliminate versions of posts!! This drives me crazy. I keep seeing more versions and have to delete them. I bet that 95% of your users do not need this. Please allow us to turn versions off.

I will discuss with our developer regarding this. By the way, If you needed hide this revision feature now, you can download my attachment file and replace in this file -> JoomlaFolder\components\com_easyblog\themes\wireframe\composer\panel\post\revisions.php so it will not appear on composer.

By the way, thanks for your feedback of our composer design, we will try our best make it simple and easy to use.
