Sorry for the delay of this reply.
You can disable 'resize original image' at Backend>Components>EasyBlog>Settings>Media>General and under 'Original Image' set 'resize original image' to 'NO'. Please give it a try and see how it goes. If problems persist, is it possible for you to provide us with the back end and FTP access to your site to check on this issue? Thanks for understanding.

This is currently set to no, always has been, I would rather be instructed what to change than give FTP if possible

Do you mean that main photo is post cover photo right?

If yes, you can adjust the cropping size from backend > Easyblog > settings > layout > Postcover tab , hope this help.
