Hello,

in my page it sometimes is necessary to change a stream item. For example an user wrote: "I don't like the homepage of stackideas." Then a lot of people give comments to it. The user reads his own stream item and recognizes, that he was wrong. He did not mean the page of stackideas, but of microsoft. He will not be able to change this post. Is there a possibility to allow these changes? Best would be, if moderators could change the stream items. At this point of time, I can only delete the whole conversation (item and comments).

Kind regards
Samson
Hi Samson,

To allow your user to edit their story stream's content, you will need to grant the stream delete acl on the profile type. Please see attached image.

Hope this help and have a nice day!

But then, they will be able to delete the item. Change will not be possible, right? The possibility of changing be great for moderators. I don't want to delete all comments, because the original item must be changed.

Hi Samson,

Can you download the attached stream.php and copy this file to folder 'JOOMLA/administrator/components/com_easysocial/tables/' and overwrite the existing 'stream.php' file with this attached file. Remember to backup your original file before overwrite the file.

This fix will allow user to edit their own story stream without needing to grant the stream.delete acl.
Also, please note this is a temporary fix and we will be adding the proper fix in the next release of EasySocial.

Hope this help and have a nice day!

* By the way, the ftp account that you provided failed to authenticate me. Please advise.

Hello Sam,

thank you for your help. I'm sorry, but I don't think, this will solve the problem. In my opinion, it would be the best, if a moderator or administrator would be able to change any stream-item. At this point of time this is not possible for links, videos, photos ...

I have a profile-type that can delete and change comments all over the community. (Attachment: backend.jpg) They also can change status-items. But they can't change links, videos, photos ... I think, this would be great. When a user sends a report, because there is a problem with a stream-item, so these "moderators" are helpless. They only can delete the item, but they can't change it.

Example: Somte days ago, Emma5 posted a status in the stream. She forgot to type a space between "gegen.Ganz". The community recognized a link. But it was only misspelled. Many members wrote comments. Emma5 asked for help, but administrators are not able to change the basic link-status. Please look at attachment "emma.jpg". There is no "bearbeiten" ("edit").

It would be important, I think, to make administrators able to change (not only delete) any item in the community.

Kind regards
Samson

Hello Samson,

There are reasons behind why link / photos / videos (rich media in particular) stream items cannot be edited. You can read my response to this question here, https://stackideas.com/forums/unable-to-edit-page-posts#reply-304850

Hello Mark,

thank you for explaining this. I understand, that this is a lot of work and problems. I am sad about this, because the only remaining possibility is deleting the item.

Kind regards
Samson

No problem Samson. Perhaps in the future, we could allow them to update the "message" portion instead of the rich media items that are embedded on the stream.
