Happy New Year to you all!

I'm trying to change the view of a menu item for Easydisuss so it takes my users into a specific category view, but cannot work out how I can do it. Currently to get the view I want, I use the Dashboard menu item and then click on Categories. What I want is for users to be taken to this view and to a specific category.

If have taken a screenshot of the view I want - can you please help?

thanks Pete
Hi Peter,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it weekends for all of us here.

You can achieve this by creating an easydiscuss single category layout menu item, http://screencast.com/t/oNprVzya6WFs so that whenever user click on the menu item it will automatically redirect the user to the category view that you set from there.

Hi Ezrul,

Thank you for the reply.

Sorry, I don't think I explained myself very well. I already have a menu item set to category, but it doesn't give the view I'm looking for in my original screenshot. What it gives me is a different view that doesn't show the category and sub category icons, with the ability to drill drown. I have attached what I get at the moment - shows all the latest posts and a different view for sub categories. If you compare to the original screenshot, you will see the difference in look/layout. Maybe you can see what I'm doing wrong from this.

Hi Peter,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as I have been occupied with the development work of easydiscuss.

Ah I am sorry for the confusion here. You can try to use easydiscuss categories layout menu item instead to display all the categories like your first screenshot and see how it goes.

But what if i only want to show one category and it's sub categories? That is what I need rather than showing everything.

Thanks Pete

Hi Peter,

I am sorry but unfortunately it is not possible to have the same view like all categories layout for a single category view currently in easydiscuss.

Any chance of it being added as an option? Looks so much better. Nice to have choice. Thanks Pete

Hi Peter,

We will see if we can add this in the future release of easydiscuss. Perhaps you can post this inside our easydiscuss voice page as well so that our developers can directly look into it in the future, http://stackideas.com/voices/easydiscuss .

Ok, just posted. Can you think of any other way to do this? Maybe there is a module I could insert into a page?

Hey Peter,

I am not too sure if I understand you here but in EasyDiscuss you can create a menu item to a single category listing which lists all posts from the category which you have selected. Am I missing something here?

Hi mark,

If you compare the two screenshots from my earlier posts you will see the view is different.

What I'm looking for is to go to a single category but using the view that shows the category image and the ability to drill down through the sub categories (the View you get going to the all categories menu item). If I use the single category view it looks different.

Do you see what I mean?

Cheers Pete
