Hello,

After upgrade to EasyDiscuss v.4 I found that category menu links do not show subcategory posts.

For example, I have category that is used as a container (users are not be able to post into the category). When I want to see all posts in that catergory, I get "There is no discussion found". Earlier Menu Item Type "Single Category Layout" displayd all the topics in that category (including sub-categories topics). Now these category links are like dead and I am afraid users will not take time to look further but wll leave my site...

How to make category link that would include all the topics that are in it (including subcategory topics)?????

Please help, this is important.
Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

We will include subcategories link in the single category layout next release version, you can take a look of my attached screenshot below.

Hello, before update to ED 4, when I clicked on category view, it displayed all the topics that are in it (including all subcategory topics), and that made sense.

Now when I click on category view - it says "There is no discussion found", Users would not bother looking further, they would leave such site... Especialy, for example another category, that contains few topics written 2 years ago, and most recent topics are in subcategories. So user, that come to such forum link and sees only topics 2 years old, would not get interested and leave such site....

I would greatly greatly appreaciate your help, possibility, that category link would display all subcategory topics, as it was in Easydicuss 3. For my site it's really important.

This is the default behavior on EasyDiscuss 4, http://screencast.com/t/KGkgGOnL3YA . We do not any longer merge all posts into 1 single category section. They will appear in their own respective sections.

It's sad. For example, in other forums I have links that redirects to my site (easydiscuss category view, category was used as a container). It's something like someone said "I can recommend good forum for you, you can find these useful questions/answers that you are interested, there is a link ......." And when user clicks on that link, he sees "There is no discussion found" OR he sees few 2 year old posts (because all the new posts are in subcategories). Of course such user leaves my site immediately...

I guess I need to work something with tags, so that to have them all in one link, but its kind of big work now to add to all old posts...

Perhaps you can point user to the `single forum view` under that category instead of `single category view`, for example : http://yoursiteURL.com/forumas/forums/2-klausimai , so that they can able to check out all the subcategory and the posts together.

I am not really sure what do you mean here. Did you take a look at my screen shot http://screencast.com/t/KGkgGOnL3YA ? Instead of using the single category view for navigation, you could just link it to a category in the forums view. It's behavior is identical with the exception that:

1. If the main category is just a container, it will display the subcategories.
2. If the main category is not a container, it will display posts from the main container and subcategory.

OK, thanks, I got it.

Although I still much better liked old view when category view displayed all the subcategory posts in MOST RECENT REPLY ORDER. Now that you showed forum view, it's better than "There is no discussion found" view.

Hello, just wanted to inquire if you have plans to add this feature (when category view display all the subcategory posts in MOST RECENT REPLY ORDER) and maybe you know when we could expect it. Thanks.

Yes, like it was before EasyDiscuss 4 (picture).

When you view category, you saw all the recent posts in that category.

Now you open category view and see only posts of first subcategory. In my case, posts of first subcategory are two years old and users usually do not croll down, they just leave the forum, because it looks dead.

If this feature is not going to be added soon, I would need to revoke all subcategories, to move all posts to categories and add tags instead of subcategory. Thats a big work.

hey there,

Correct me if I getting wrong your meaning in your previous reply, do you mean when you click on one of the category container, it show no post on the page right?

If yes, I already verify this issue with our developer, we will fix this in next release version, because it should display subcategories post as well on the category container page.
