Hello,

When our users subscribe to a top level category, how come they don't get notifications for all subcategories under that topic? They don't want to have to subscribe to every topic, so they subscribe to the top level in hopes to get notifications on everything under that top level. How do we make this happen?

Thanks,
Sherry
Hello Sherry,

Sorry if I misunderstood your question but there are no such settings currently

Hello Sherry,

It's actually because the idea of category subscription is to allow users to subscribe to the particular category that they want and not any subcategories within that category. Take this scenario for an example:

Technology
|
|_ _ _ Apple
|_ _ _ Samsung
| _ _ _ Dell

There are times where you post a general blog post about "technology" and it has nothing related to the subcategories. If the user only wants to subscribe to the "Technology" category, then it wouldn't make sense if they receive updates when you post about anything Apple, Samsung or Dell.

Yes but that is not how ours works. We have topics like events, best practices, news under the primary category. So...is there a way for me to make sure they get alerts without making them subscribe to 12+ sub categories?

Hello Sherry,

Sorry but this isn't possible right now out of the box but here's the problem, not everyone has a setup like yours and we can't just change this functionality overnight as others will eventually come to us and request us to revert this. We will consider this for future updates but right now, I can't really promise anything yet though.

Hi - I wasn't asking to change globally, I was asking if there was a setting we could implement in our instance to make this happen?

That is unfortunate. Is there a way to pull down a list of subscribers so I can email them and ask them to subscribe to every category they wish to receive updates on?

Yup, go to the back end of EasyBlog > Subscriptions and you should see a list of subscribers there You should also pay attention to the filter on the right as it allows you to filter subscriptions by type.

Yes, I see this but how do I extract? I need to download a copy and do not see a download button.

Hello Sherry,

I am sorry but unfortunately you can't "export" them currently Perhaps you could use the phpmyadmin to export them? I will try to add this feature in EasyBlog 4.0
