Is it possible for the category description to be edited on the front end??? Right now I have a category with a post that is dated 3 years into the future so it remains on top and users can edit it... This works but it would be better if it was the category description.
Hi Ryan,
Unfortunately, currently only super users or creator of the categories can edit the categories from the frontend.
Right now I have a category with a post that is dated 3 years into the future so it remains on top and users can edit it
Do you mean that you are using this post as the category description because it can be edited by the public?

EDIT: If you want to allow a certain user group to create categories, you can edit their ACL permissions in the ACL page(http://take.ms/UcTMZ). Do note they can only edit their own created category, whereas super users will be able to edit all categories.

Yeah iam using this post so it can be edited on the front end by a user using the EB composer... ask are you saying I can change the category creator and then that user can edit the category description from the front end using the EB5 composer?

Hello Ryan,

You cannot edit a category in the composer but you can edit the category on the dashboard area as you can see here, http://take.ms/ViDIH

Ok... so if I can not edit the category description in the composer I am back to my original thought of having a post that remains at the top of the category (entering a future date so it stays above other posts) and then it can be edited with the EB5 composer. Biggest problem is it displays the created and other items at the top of that post... Is this the best method to achieve what I am wanting??? Or do you have any other ideas?

Hm, that would be your best bet but I am actually quite lost as to why you need the post to be at the top?

Ok so I am using EB5 for a school the school has several sports teams for example soccer... So the soccer team has a category where the coach can post scores pictures from games and highlights etc that would appear in the category. But they want a team photo a list of the coaches a PDF attachment of the team roster etc to always be at the top... So this was my best idea to put a post at the top that would always stay there... thoughts?

Perhaps instead of having it in a category layout, use the recent blog posts menu item instead and filter by a specific category. Then, feature the blog post that contains the team photo list of coaches.

Do you mean the featured items? You can't really alter it as it still uses the same theme file but you could add a checking to only display the date if the post is featured.
