The Easyblog categories module, when set to Show count = NO still shows the number of posts.

Joomla 3.5 rc
Installed Version: 5.0.33
Hey Danny,

Ah I see. Can you check this again now? As for the second point, I get what you mean now. The reason that we require you to enter the parent id as well is to avoid running multiple SQL queries as it will be slower on the site. We'll see what we can do about this in the future.

Hi Danny,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply.

Hm, I can't seems to replicate this issue in my local instance. Can you provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can check on the issue directly on your site?

Hi there Danny,

Can you download the attached file and replace it here and see how it goes?

modules\mod_easyblogcategories\tmpl\default.php

Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate you helping us.

(1) I still see the counter (after uploading the default file you sent me)

(2) Also, I set a series of Cat ID's to limit the categories seen in front end. You should note this doesn't work if you don't specify their parent ID which is somewhat of a limitation. To get the desired results, I would need to manually create menu items pointing to the sub categories which is a lot of work when this alternate option seems like a relatively simple thing to add to you module (show ID without the parent being required)

I've attached screenshots for you,.

How can I share the Joomla admin and FTP with you ?

Thanks
Danny

Hey Danny,

Please find my response to your inquiries below:

(1) I still see the counter (after uploading the default file you sent me)

I believe you have updated to 5.0.34 and we have already fixed this in 5.0.34. The counter doesn't seem to appear beside the category module now.

Hm, not really sure if I understand you here. You don't need to manually create menu items here. If you specified these id's, only then these categories would be displayed in the module. Did I misunderstand your question here?

Hi

I'm looking at the said example and the counter is still displaying for me ?

http://jaffili.net/index.php/striking

See the right module "Stricking displines". The first one (on top) is your module, the one bellow is done with actual menu items as a test by myself.

As for the second point (the subcategories), try removing Cat ID 7 in the list of categories displayed. The whole thing gets hidden because the parent category isn't listed.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the fix on the "count".

As for the subcategories issue, it would be practical indeed.

However, the truth is it will be better to actually go ahead and create menu items for this anyway as this is the only true way to manage modules at that level (and probably easier to manage SEO urls).

Thanks for your help:-)
