Do you mean you can't insert new custom field in your event?

I've tried in your site, it seems work fine for me. perhaps you can check my attached screenshot below. (backend > Easysocial > event > category > select one of the category > click custom field tab )

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as we have been overwhelmed with the support since the release of easysocial 1.4 and we are currently short handed.

Do you mean the user can't create event on your frontpage or user can't edit the event category custom field? Please advise.
