Hi all,
Just tried to install EasyBlog 5.0.26. As it doesn't work by Updater I downloaded the Launcher. Unfortunately it hangs with "Failed" in step 3 with "downloading installation files...". Don't know what to do...
Tried it then to install the Component (w/o Launcher) - misses a XML file.
Problem is that neither EasyBlog backend nor my website is running!!!

The later on comes up with msg "Warning: require_once(/homepages/24/d175459061/htdocs/clickandbuilds/joomla/MartinReiser/components/com_easyblog/constants.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /homepages/24/d175459061/htdocs/clickandbuilds/joomla/MartinReiser/components/com_easyblog/router.php on line 16"

Please assist...

Thanks in advance,
Martin

Hi Mark,

Thanks a lot for your quick support!!!
Unfortunately the layout of the former Blog has changed in some ways - I'm afraid I have to do this stuff again...

Could you tell me what I've done wrong? How to solve this situation?

Best regards,
Martin

After your (highly appreciated) support the layout of initial site of the blog (new posts) has changed completely (blog post images get very big, comments haven't been shown in the view, handling slightly different, ...).
By now I think I'm quite through with it and it looks almost the same as before.

Could you tell me what I've done wrong, please? Or how I could have solved this issue by myself?

Thanks again for the quick help (on Sunday!)...
Best regards,
Martin

Hey Martin,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is actually a public day off for us here. Hm, not really sure if I understand you here. We didn't actually do anything apart from upgrading from 3.9 to 5.x for your site. Can you please advise if I missed out anything here?

Hi Mark,

No problem at all!
In the meantime I've re-arranged all my posts - now they look almost the same than before...
Again thank you very much for your help!

Have a nice day/evening and best regards from Munich,
Martin

I had the same problem. The upgrade worked fine but now the layout is completely different.

The layout has changed but it's not as easy for me to redo.
I would also like to know why the front end changes are so drastic and why they couldn't have been copied over during update.
I spent a lot of time tweaking in Easyblog administrator and created overrides in the template for modules that no longer work due to the update.

Obviously it can be fixed and in normal situations these changes might not be severe enough to be a problem, but this is an update for a client who approved the previous layout and we would like to keep it as similar as possible.

Possible "quick" fix?
When upgrading to the latest version, where are the configuration settings for Easyblog stored?
Would I be able to look at the two files to see the various configuration settings and copy over by hand to the new version without having to click and hunt through all of the configuration screens in the administrator?

Hey John,

EasyBlog 5 has a complete rewritten DOM structure and the sole purpose of this is to ensure that all the layouts are mobile ready. With every major software releases, it is common that there are changes in the UI and this is not exceptional for EasyBlog 5.

I don't really know what you have changed for your client but you probably need to take a look at the changes that you have done for the previous version.
