Hi,

I have EasySocial, EasyBlog, EasyDiscuss and Kommento, and am trying to inegrate this all together.

At the moment, it seems just impossible to post a comment as a guest on a blogpost, I get an error displaying not much to go with:

Status:
200
Status Text:
OK
Response Text:

I hope I have all settings correct, I am trying to get Kommento to handle the comments on EasyBlog, and it should be possible on our site for both guests as registered guests, to add a comment.

what am I doing wrong?

additional info:

my EasySocial members of specific profile types should be able to post blogs with EasyBlog. They should also be able to comment on blog posts of other members, and of course on comments made on their own posts (so comment on comment).

Visitors of the site may post comments on blogs without signing in, or by registering. If they register, I want them to be able to post comments on EasyBlog items, and be able to respond to, or create topics in EasyDiscuss.

Those visitors can sign up through EasySocial, or Joomla default, I do not know what is best. I did create a profile type in EasySocial, specifically for this group, and set it: "do not show up in EasySocial listing", as I do not want them to show up with their profiles in searches for EasySocial members.
But, lso that is not working the way I want to, when registering while trying to comment on a blog post, it gives me the EasySocial registration of the wrong Profile Type.

Any help on that would also be appreciated!

Corine
Hello Corine,

Let me rephrase it and let me know if I missing something.

1. You want all guests unable to sign up using Easysocial Registration
2. Guests only can sign up using normal Joomla Registration and will be in "registered" profile.

If this is correct, what you can do is:

1. Create one new usergroup in your Joomla called, Guest Registered.
2. Go to Joomla User Manager, and set this setting to Guest Registered. (Means, every new user will be registered under this usergroup)
3. Create a new Easysocial Profile type called Guest Registered and turn off this option Allow in Registration and make sure the default group is set to Guest Registered: http://screencast.com/t/TRFWTQUP8
4. Lastly, go to this plugin: System - EasySocial and turn off the Enable com_users Redirection setting.

Hope this helps.

Hey Corine,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. This is actually the same issue as the one you posted for EasyDiscuss. All the ajax calls are failing because of your index.html file on the document root

Yep but I think you could just set the site as "Offline" in your Joomla Global Configuration

Hey Mark,

yeah, I will do that... I can confirm my issues with posting comments as a guest and loading the tabs are indeed gonen now

what remains, though, is my issue with the account creation of my visitors.

How do I show the registration page with the registered profile type from easy social to this group, while I can create another link somewhere to let my "real" profile members, and thus the ones able to write blog articles, sign up /in?

I am hoping for a little nudge in the right direction

Hi Corine,

How do I show the registration page with the registered profile type from easy social to this group, while I can create another link somewhere to let my "real" profile members, and thus the ones able to write blog articles, sign up /in?

You can try to use "Easysocial Quick Registration" module and assign the module to a specific page that you want and then choose the profile type accordingly as you can see from my screenshot here, http://screencast.com/t/ZhzW9BaIGezM .

Hi, Ezrul,

ah, that sounds like the smart solution.

now would you advise for me to let my guests, who only need a registered account to use EasyDiscuss and, if they want, to submit comments, use this Quick registration form?

then I will have to disable the regular sign up from all the pages where they are able to submit either a comment (on blog items) or reply (easydiscuss), right?

is that even possible, with still keeping the normal registration form open with a link somewhere on my site for my blog-authors / easy social profile people, to sign up with the larger form?

Hi Corine,

Hm. I am sorry but I don't think it is possible to achieve this currently.

Okay.... there must be some solution possible....

okay, let's think.

now when I want to post a comment, and I click Register, if I want to register to leave comments, I et the EasySocial register page at the moment....

can I just show Joomla login?

or will that disable my Easy Social login all together?

Hello Corine,

Sorry for the late reply. Correct me if I'm wrong, you want to use the Joomla login in Easydiscuss comment? Or you mean to have Joomla registration when user click on the register link? Please advise.

Hi, Nick,

yeah, I was wondering if that would hel solve my problem.

I want EasySocial profile members to also be able to post blogs. Also, they should be able to start topics and answer on forum (easydiscuss)

I want registered guests to be able to comment on blog posts and also use the forum (easyDiscuss).

So I was wondering: what if I let guests register with basic joomla registration when commenting on blog items or using forum, and then have a separate sign up/registration for my easy profile members who then, when registered, can write blogs and also use forum?

will that work?

Hey Corine,

Sorry, but I am really confused here. There is no need for a separate process to register and I don't see a reason for doing this either. If the user already registered on the site, they could use the same login credentials to login to post their questions / comments.

Hey Mark,

all right, lets start over.

if you look at our site, you see in the footer a link to login for "ritueelbegeleiders". This link shows easysocial login box, with left the login par (green button) and on the right the create account part (blue button).
My "ritueelbegeleiders" can here sign up, and choose one of the profiles I have set up in EasySocial (currently just one, but we plan on creating some more).

This is all okay. They can now maintain their EasySocial Profile, but also post blogs on EasyBlog, communicate on the EasyDiscuss forum, etc.
I can display lists of my members, visitors can browse through them and find the "ritueelbegeleider" they need.

Now my guests, who want to respond to those blog posts, or participate on the forum...
when clicking on the comment part under a blog item, the visitor has the option to subscribe.
this is also okay, but I do not want them to sign up as the profiles we've set up for the "ritueelbegeleiders", they should only be able to sign up as a registered guest, and NOT show up in my list of members.

for this I had created a "registered" profile in EasySocial, and set the setting Allow community access to No. This seems to be working, they do not show up in my member listing.

but... by signing up, they also get the other profile types as sign-up possibility, and that I do not want.

so basically: how do I solve this?

I hope this is more clear?

Hi, Nick,

well, you state in point one: you want all guests unable to sign up using Easysocial Registration:

well, that is partially true, I guess, because I still want the link at the bottom of our page to actually work, users following that link need to be able to select one of the profile types that we've created.

on every other location where you can sign up, so with commenting on blog or registering for easy discuss forum access, THEN I do not want users to be able to choose these profile types, they only should be able to register as "registered guests."

will that work with your description?
