Hi,

See this initial post

I just upgraded to the latest EasySocial version on my test site and tried to edit a video post using the Protostar template - the process was:
1. Post a youtube video with a comment
2. Click edit
3. Receive error: "No video detected. Please upload a video or embed a video link to proceed."
4. Cannot Update

See attached image
Hey David,

It looks like the override file in this location is causing the issue.
JoomlaFolder/templates/current_template/html/com_easysocial/stream/default/item.php

If you rename the file or switch to protostar template, the video can be edited properly.

Hi David,

I am not able to replicate this locally.

On your site, I have also tried to replicate this on protostar template but I did not encounter the error(http://take.ms/dJiY0).

Am I missing something here?

Hi Raymond,

I just tried to edit a video post using Protostar and got the same error as encountered above, ie. "No video detected. Please upload a video or embed a video link to proceed."

In the image you pasted above, it seems you can edit the text, but it doesn't show whether or not you tried to Update or save the post. It seems this is where the issue lies.

Can you try update a video post using Protostar?

Cheers, David

Hey David,

It looks like another user reported this issue and I was able to find out that it occurs when video uploads is disabled.

The issue was addressed internally and the fix will be included in the next release.

In the meantime, you can test the fix by applying the attached fix file below into the directory:
JoomlaFolder/media/com_easysocial/scripts/site/story/videos.js

Remember to backup the original file beforehand.

Thanks Raymond,

I pasted the updated Javascript file but this hasn't solved the problem.. FYI: The following tests were done with Protostar

Test #1
Re: Posting - when I post the Youtube url, and then delete the url, the post retains the video but the link will not be visible to users. This is how it should be.

Now, if I go into that post where the video is linked but the url is not absent, and I try to edit the post text and update, I get this error: "No video detected. Please upload a video or embed a video link to proceed."

I assume this is because the re-post cannot access the url as it was deleted when originally posted. If I try to repost the url into this post's text, the error remains.

Test #2
If I retain the post url within the original post, save it and then try to edit, I get the same error.

The only way I can get either of these tests to work is if I click edit, add text, delete the video link, repaste the video link in the "Enter the link to the video here" box and reshare.

Please advise.

Hey David,

You are referring to this error correct? http://take.ms/eHh1B

If that's the case, can you provide us the test site ftp so I can test this out?

Thanks.

Hi Raymond,

Yes, that's the error I get.

Unfortunately, the Test site hasnt been updated in a while.. Under the StackIdeas licencing system, I need to download and then reupload every time I update the components and this is quite time consuming. If I could update directly - this would make life a lot easier.

Is there any way you can test this on the live site? I don't have many users using it at the moment so you're welcome to test things out.

Let me know if your ftp and login deets don't work.

Cheers, David

Hi Raymond,

Apologies for that. Have created a new ftp account with correct access and updated details.

Please try again.

Hey David,

Alright I am able to access the site directory now.

It looks like the fix was not applied as the js files were not recompiled.

I have helped you do this so the fix is now applied. Can you help me double check again?

Regards.

"Sorry, but the content is currently not available or you do not have permissions to view the item."
