Cannot create non-private groups

We originally had this configured so that only 'invite-only' groups were allowed at all. But now i would like to allow an admin to create some open/public groups. I have created a new group category but i cannot change it so that the groups can be viewed publicly. Has that been turned off centrally somehow?

May i know how you set only display "Invite-only" type option from backend previously?

ah, it was done by the site dev - who i can go back to but i wondered if there was an obvious way it would have been done.

It seems like your development site still using very old version of Easysocial which is 1.4.12, can I have the permission to help you upgrade to Easysocial 2.x? It might solve this issue.
