This has been a bug in EasySocial since it first started. I have never been able to create a menu link called Forgot Username nor a menu link called Forgot Password. When I do create a menu item linked to EasySocial -> Forgot Username (or Password), I get redirected to the login page. But when I click on the lost username/password links on the EasySocial dashboard page I get the expected pages.

What gives?

Rene
Joomla! has a core feture in it for this functionality...... Menu Item > Create New > Select Menu Item Type > Users Manager > Password Request & Username Reminder Request.

Set an Alias for the Menu Item, then create a (HTML) link for it

Note: You may want to add an EasySocial toolbar module to the top of the page(s)

I just noticed EasySocial Menu Items has Forgot Username/Forgot Password as well, so this would probably suit you best, sorry

EasySocial Menu Items (Forgot Username/Password) is what I am talking about. These menu items do not work. Is this what you are talking about? Please try this yourself.

I just checked it out - It works fine for me 1.3.7 - If the backend EasySocial > Settings > Lockdown Mode is enabled and Allow Registrations is disabled it will not work. However if you enable Lockdown Mode and enable Allow Registrations it does work. And if you disable Lock Down mode altogether it works as well

I have lockdown mode disabled and it definitely does not work. I have given up trying to use the EasySocial Forgot Username/Password. I am just using the Joomla Lost Username/password reset instead, which does work.

I have E-mail disabled on my test site, I didn't test if it actually sends an E-mail, but It does display the pages for me (in all templates). If it doesn't work properly, ES needs to fix this or just take it off the menu

Hi Josh,

Well there are other problems with the way EasySocial interacts with the Joomla Username/password menu items. It hijacks them, making it difficult to attach modules to a menu link, for instance. Also, the url created is nonstandard. However, for my purposes I can live with it. But it definitely needs to be looked at.

I have just tested this locally with both the forget username and forget password menu links and they seem to work fine for me. What issues do you have with these 2 menu items? As long as both the menu items that you have created is "public", you should be able to access both these links on the dashboard.

Hi Mark,

Are you testing the Joomla menu links or the EasySocial menu links? Perhaps it is my setup, however Joomla menu links work fine for me but EasySocial links do not. Also, EasySocial hijacks the links making it impossible (for me anyway) to attach modules to these links. Further, if you examine the url created when clicking on the Account -> Lost Username (joomla) link on my website, the url inserts the community page (EasySocial) into it (i.e. mywebsite.com/community/account/lostusername) when it should be (mywebsite.com/account/lostusername).

Hello Rene,

I am testing on EasySocial's own forget username and password links. Regardless if you create a Joomla menu item, the links in EasySocial are still pointing to it's own forget username / password. It does not use Joomla's forget username / password links. It's actually not really hijacking but the links are built this way.

If you want me to check on the forget username / password links for EasySocial on your site, please provide us with the back end and FTP access to the site

Hi Mark,

I have listed my website in the URL below. Please go to Account -> Forgot Username. You will see that EasySocial takes over. Note that it is impossible for me to attach modules to this webpage. Is there anything we can do to fix this?

Rene

P.S. If I try to create lost password/username links with EasySocial Forgot Password/Username then I always get redirected to the Login page. This is why I am using the Joomla Lost Username/Password, which at least is giving me the correct pages.

Hello Rene,

I think the problem is because /account/ is actually an alias used for EasySocial. There's actually a naming conflict going on there. What you can do instead is to create the menu that you are linking to Joomla's forget username / password and use a menu alias to display the menu in the dropdown.
