Hello

I created an event in a closed group, and set the event field "Member Transfer Type" to "Invite" so that all group members are invited as guests.
But when group members try to see the event details, they get the error "Access to this event has been restricted to it's guests only." (see attachment) through they are invited. They first need to hit the "Attending" button before they can see the event details.

I also tested with a closed event created outside of a group. It worked fine, my invited friends could see the event details before they chose to (or not to) attend.
Hello Altitudes,

I'm really sorry that delayed of this reply,
Can you try download my attachment file and replace in this 2 file location, then it should fix the group members should be have permission to view events detail.
JoomlaFolder\components\com_easysocial\views\events\view.html.php
JoomlaFolder\components\com_easysocial\controllers\events.php

Regarding with your second question, I already replied this in your other post thread -> http://stackideas.com/forums/guests-invited-to-a-group-event-don-t-receive-any-notification

Hello Altitudes,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

If you set "invite" type in your group event, which means that only event members can invite other users to join this event.

If the guest user access in your group invite event page, it will restricted the permission disallow the guest user view the event details.

Please have a look at the snapshot attached to my 1st message. The logged in user is invited to the event, otherwise he would not have the "Attending" / "Maybe" / "Not Attending" buttons, he would have a "Request to Attend" button. Despite he is invited, he can't see the event details.

This only happen when you create a (closed) event in a closed group by setting the option "Member Transfer Type" to "Invite" in the event. If you invite friends afterwards (using the "Invite Friends" text box on the event), it is OK.

I think this is linked to another issue I raised (http://stackideas.com/forums/guests-invited-to-a-group-event-don-t-receive-any-notification)
Group members invited through the "Member Transfer Type" option on the event are not really (fully) invited. Don't tell me this is normal, because if you can't really invite all the members of closed group to an event created in the group, what's the point of having events in groups?

OK it works: users invited to a closed group closed event (yes, both group and event are closed ) can now see the event details. But let me share some doubts...

With the modification you've done, group members that are not invited to the event can see the event details despite the event is closed. This is a good thing that a user who joins the group after the event was created (and for which he was consequently not invited) can view the event details. But this should happen only for open events in groups, not closed events.

And there, you should answer me: "But you can't create open events in a closed group!". And I would reply: "Yes, you're right, but you should. That's what I suggested here: http://stackideas.com/forums/newly-created-event-does-not-appear-in-group-timeline-until-the-user-attends (sorry there are a few messages to read)".

So my advice would be:
1- Beware, only invited users should see a closed event details in a group (as for events outside of groups)
2- You should reintroduce the ability to use Event Type ("Open Event" / "Closed Event" / "Invite Only Event") for events in groups (with their respective usual behaviour, but with access restricted to group members in any case).

At least you should do 1- now. So that when you do 2-, everything is clean and events behave in group as they behave outside of groups (with the above mentioned restriction).

Hello Altitudes,

I'm really sorry that delayed of this reply and I'm really appreciated that you suggested 2 point of the restriction is very useful.

we will see if we can implement this in next release version or not.

By that way, thanks for your suggestion.
