I would like to add that I also have this problem. It is objecting to the connection details even though they were fine immediately before the 5.0.5 update and the connection details haven't changed..

Hi guys,

I'm really sorry that delayed of this reply,

Thanks for reporting on this, I already help Greg solve this issues, by the way this fix will be included in next release version.

To fix this, you have to download my attachment file and replace in your site.

JoomlaFolder\administrator\components\com_easyblog\includes\xmlrpc\xmlrpc.php

Regarding the Easyblog 5 remote publish via Windows live writer have a little bit different now :
STEP 1 : Open your Windows live writer > Home menu > click this drop down button ( http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-06-23_1533.png ) > Add blog account > other services > Next
STEP 2 : Insert your website name, username and password > click Next
STEP 3 : Select "Wordpress2.2+" type ( http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-06-23_1536.png )
STEP 4 : Remote posting web address - http://yourdomainname.com/index.php?option=com_easyblog&view=xmlrpc ( http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-06-23_1536.png )
STEP 5 : Click Next.
STEP 6 : When you received a pop up screen then click NO ( http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-06-23_1538.png )
STEP 7 : Modify your Blog nickname and click Finish.

By the way Greg, it seems like your site URL is based on your site language, so the Remote posting web address you have to put http://www.nomadsroad.com/fr/?option=com_easyblog&view=xmlrpc
Hope this help.

Thank you for that. Have followed your instructions but cannot get a connection. I double checked file permissions etc and they are fine.

When I enter the URL is a browser window directly I get the URL changes to: :

http://macrotoneconsulting.co.uk/index.php/easyblog/COM_EASYBLOG_SH404_ROUTER_XMLRPC.html

And the following message is displayed on the screen.

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<methodResponse>
<fault>
<value>
<struct><member><name>faultCode</name>
<value><int>105</int></value>
</member>
<member>
<name>faultString</name>
<value><string>XML error: Invalid document end at line 1, column 1</string></value>
</member>
</struct>
</value>
</fault>
</methodResponse>

Hi Geoff Chapman,

I noticed your screenshot error mentioned that "Moved Permanently" warning, I suspect that this error meaning is when the system try to connect this URL http://www.xxx.com/index.php?option=com_easyblog&view=xmlrpc from your site, then hitting redirection issues.

If I'm not wrong you have installed SH404sef extension in your site right? If yes, can you provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access so we can help you check on this?

Yes sh404SEF is installed upon the site. I have checked the component and apart from this one link which has appeared as a consequence of my test I cannot see any reference to xmlrpc in sh404SEF anywhere.

Connection details provided.

Hi Geoff Chapman,

Sorry for late reply to this,

It seems like that was redirection issues when you trying to login from your frontend, may i know did you hitting the same issues with me?

By the way, can i have the permission temporary disable with your Sh404sef extension, so I can verify that is it this causing your login redirection issues?

Yes you may change the sh404Sef component temporarily. I tried a test and changed the configuration of sh404sef to use the Joomla router rather than sh404 and unfortunately it made no difference to trying to connect using WLW.

Not quite sure what you mean by ; ' hitting the same issues with me'.

The reason why you can't log in on the front end is because you are trying to use the user name that I provided for the back end access. Admin users are forbidden from connecting via the front end. Any other username works fine, and the user that I generally use to connect via WLW always can connect via the front end. I will give you a user suitable for the front end below.

Hi Geoff Chapman,

Okay, good I can connected now.

by the way, I already enabled back your Easyblog using Sh404sef .

So this is your Easyblog frontpage URL -> http://macrotoneconsulting.co.uk/index.php/Blog.html

Now you copy the URL and configure in your Windows live writer (check my second screenshot below) and make sure your admin user can access in your frontpage.

That's interesting. I now how to specify the 'full' web address to the Blog including the 'index.php/Blog.html' which is different from what I had specified (and worked with version 3.9 (and earlier), which was just the web site address, Makes sense just never thought the behaviour would be different.

I can connect fine now so thank you very much. Not tried posting yet but I am sure this will be OK.

What was the problem with sh404SEF?

I consider this problem is now resolved for me.

Hi Geoff Chapman,

Sorry for late reply to this,

Thanks for getting back to us your issues resolved.

Actually that was not really an issues from Sh404sef, the reason why the first time when you try it failed is most likely the Sh404sef make this non-sef URL ( http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-06-24_1016.png ) redirect to SEF e.g. easyblog/COM_EASYBLOG_SH404SEF_** <-

So regarding this situation, you have to get your Easyblog frontpage URL and put in Windows Live writer configuration, so it will directly connect with your Easyblog frontpage without hitting any redirection.
