I have just installed EB, but can not set the permalinks.
Even though permalinks are checked, it only shows as https://www.ehcanadatravel.com/index.php?option=com_easyblog

I figure there is a menu item I need to add, but could find no documentation on it.

Please advise
Colin
Hey Colin,

Where is the blog menu on your site? I don't seem to locate any menu item on your Joomla site that is linked to EasyBlog. Can you please advise?

Hi Mark,

Just trying to wrap my head around how to set this up best for us..

I did not see any instruction on setting up an EB menu. So I created a hidden menu item to a category and that seems to have worked. If you can point me to info on the EB menu and what to setup that would be great.

On our test site, I'm seeing a url of https://localhost/ehcanadatravel/blog/tags/merritt.html

We actually have a WP install at https://localhost/ehcanadatravel/blog/

Could that cause issues?

Hi Colin,

The main menu item for EasyBlog is the (Posts) Frontpage menu item(http://take.ms/otFyH). You can create this first which should act as the menu item for the ../index.php?option=com_easyblog page. This menu item also acts as the main structure of EasyBlog urls.

Since 'blog' is already used by your other menu items, you would have to use a different url alias instead. The other EasyBlog menu items type are optional so only create them if you need to utilize them.

Ok got it thanks!

On the WP 'issue' could we in theory import WP into EB and use the same urls, or a redirect?

I do need some advice on the menu structure.

Not sure the best way to proceed.
...EB has been added to our existing travel guide for Canada so that members can add content for their community.
To keep it short. A member of our site from the city of Merritt, BC will be able to add a blog about Merritt.
The blog about merritt would show on the merritt page, under the merritt info as recent post.
If the post is about merritt fishing it would also show as recent post under the merritt fishing article.

We use smartslider as an option to dynamically post the blogs under the appropriate pages

What do you suggest?

1. use smartslider to show the posts on appropriate pages by category?

2. use the EB categories as the community pages?
i.e. The Merritt main article would become a EB category, and therefore be able to display posts in that category.

For the EB menu links, do you suggest create a separate menu and structure for EB only, or integrate the EB links into the current menu?

Any thought are appreciated.

I think what you can do is :

1. Create a new category called 'Merritt'
2. Create a single category menu item (http://take.ms/4tna6) then select this 'Merritt' category
3. So when the user view on this page, it will only show this category blog post.

I never use this smartslider before, is this compatible with Easyblog extension?
However, Easyblog do have showcase slider module and you can able to choose which category post you would like to show in particular showcase into the module.

In my suggestion, for the slider part, you can show those featured post.
Then those new blog post, you can show it on the page e.g. single category page or blog listing page (included different category new post)

I need to understand what is your current Wordpress blog URL format first in order to suggest you this.
Is it you would like those imported post from Wordpress, have to use back the same blog URL format right?
