I understand that they won't "appear in search results", but once a person has accepted an invite to a private event is there a way that it can appear in their upcoming events module?

Hey John,
The upcoming invite event only available to show if you select these following event module filter type :
- User Events (Only display events from current logged in user)
- Upcoming Events (For currently logged in user)
So that system can able to check whether this current logged in user whether accepted that invitation or not.
