Hello,

I am unable to upgrade to most recent version of Easyblog. I have entered the new api but keep getting error message that it is the incorrect api. Any suggestions?

Regards
Scott Short
Hello Scott,

Sorry for the late reply. Yes you can just uninstall from the extension manager. The data and settings won't be lost when you uninstall EasyBlog. The only thing that will be affected are the files. Thus if you have made any changes/modifications to the files please back them up Hope this helps.

Thanks!

Hello Scott,

Upgrading from EasyBlog 3.8.x or older to 3.9.x requires a full uninstall / installation. The reason is because there are some core files which were modified in this release and running the updater would actually break things.

Rest assured that your data would not get erased when you perform an uninstall. Theme files and other core files would however get erased, so if you have made any modifications, it's best to make a backup of the modifications first.

Thanks Nick

Can you give me the correct steps to correctly uninstall so I do so without losing my data. Do I just unistall from the extension manager?... Or is there more to it?

Regards
Scott

Hello I have a follow up question. I had some language overrides saved in the joomla administration for Easy Blog. I thought that these would be preserved after updates.. but I found that they were lost. ..Maybe because this was an uninstall / new install... could this be the reason why my overrides were lost?

Thanks
Scott

Hello Scott,

Sorry for the late reply. EasyBlog uninstall will not delete files that are not created by EasyBlog in the first place. If you have done the overrides in the backend these files will not be affected by EasyBlog uninstall.

Thanks!

Hello, I have another issue regarding this recent install

Shortly after i uninstalled and reinstalled easyblog, I discovered that I have a new component installed on my site: OSE Filemangager.
I have never installed this component intentionally and I can check this as I always save the install files for all installed components, modules & plugins.

By chance, does the new easyblog that I installed include the installation of this component? I need to understand how this was installed on my site to eliminate the possibility that my site has been compromised. Please let me know if this component install was included in the EasyBlog install package, thanks.

Regards
Scott

Hello Scott,

Sorry for the late reply. EasyBlog does not install OSEFileman. However if you've recently had some issue that needs FTP checking or something similar then this component might have been installed by one of our support team guys I apologise for not immediately removing it once we've done with the checking.

Thanks!
