Hello,

Can Komento respect Access setting of Joomla article?

We operate a portal site and have multiple user groups. Komento is displayed in Joomla articles that can only be accessed by certain user groups. Joomla articles can prevent unauthorized users from browsing through Access setting, but we are troubled because Komento does not respect Joomla article Access setting.

Do you have any solution for this?

Thanks
Hi there,

Honestly, i am a bit confused here actually. Right now, by default, if those Articles are not accessible, Komento also should not be accessible also.

Can you provide us with more informations so that we can understand them better? Do provide us with links and screenshot would be better.

Our site is so complex that it is difficult to explain.
OK, I will confirm the fact that Komento should respect Joomla article access settings on a simple test site.

Thanks

Hello again,

I found points to tell you on my this issue.

Premise:
Joomla articles have an intro text and a body. On our site, the intro text is visible to everyone, including guests, and requires specific access rights to view the body.

In order to realize the above premise, the following settings were made:
1. Global Configuration > Articles > (tab) Articles > Show Unauthorised Links: Yes
2. The “category-A” for articles > Access: Public
3. The “article-A” in “category-A” > Access: “accessLevel-A”
4. “accessLevel-A” (Group Parent: Registered) has “userGroup-A”
5. “user-A” assigned “userGroup-A”

If a guest attempts to access article-A, the guest will be able to view the intro text, but not the body. “user-A” who has logged in can browse all of “article-A”. In this case, “user-A” can view and post to Komento on “article-A”.

Up to this point, there is no problem at all.
However, problems arise in the following situations…

“user-A” knows the URL of the “article-A” body. If user-A's membership expires and user-A loses userGroup-A, user-A should no longer have access to article-A body.

In fact, when user-A who has lost userGroup-A accesses article-A, the title of the article is displayed, but the body is not displayed. However, Komento is displayed!!

Is this a bug in Joomla when "Show Unauthorised Links: Yes" is set?
I think it should be an error, not even to display the article title.
Since the article body is not displayed, Joomla may not have any problems at present.

However, it is problematic that Komento appears in this situation. I expect Komento should not to be displayed when the article body is not displayed.

That is all for my explanation, could you understand my issue?
If I have any misunderstandings, please point them out.

Thanks!

Yes it might be it is bug from Joomla itself. If users dont have access it should restrict them from seeing the whole Content.

However, it is problematic that Komento appears in this situation. I expect Komento should not to be displayed when the article body is not displayed.

Currently, Komento will always be shown as long as you can access those articles regardless those articles body can be viewed or not. There are no other ways to control them currently unless Joomla did something on how they check "Show Unauthorised Links"

Thanks for your understanding.

Let me confirm just one.
Joomla articles can be hidden based on Joomla's access settings in the "Show Unauthorised Links: Yes" setting. Judging from this fact, isn't Komento able to control visibility by changing the way Joomla access is checked?

I checked the Joomla forum. The behavior regarding "Show Unauthorised Links" seems to have not changed since ancient times.

Thanks!

Hi there,

Currently, it is not possible to achieve this. Only way for you to hide them are by configuring them here https://take.ms/frB3U(based on your users group) and including this tags https://take.ms/tLbU8 into your Joomla contents. As long as you didnt configure them, Komento will show as long as those Articles are accessible.

Thanks for your understanding.

Hi,

I did't know about {KomentoDisable} tag. I tested it, and I confirmed it works!
I feel that a solution can be created with this tag and Conditional Content (by RegularLabs). Thank you so much!!

Thanks!
