I have a user who signed up a few hours ago for an account using EasySocial at http://starch-smart.com and she tells me she never received the Activation email. To troubleshoot I just created an account and the email was sent out properly. I am guessing that maybe her message was spam filtered. What I would like is to figure a way to send the message again. Is that possible?

thank you, Sean Carney
Hello Sean,

Hm, unfortunately there's no such possibility right now It does seem like a good idea though that we could re-send the activation e-mail.

Here is how community builder does it which is pretty good:

However why not give the user the ability to re-send it? Here's what it could look like:

If they ask the admin, the admin could simply let them know the proper page (forgot page) to resend it. If this is added to the forgot page, if a user is already activated and attempts to activate the account, it should give them a message "Your account is already activated".

I like that idea. It looks like I have three users now all who wanted to help me test the site but who have not received the email. I set up another test user with one of my other email accounts and it worked fine for me. Having this in the control of the person trying to get the account is a great idea. For now I do not know what to do for them.

Glad you liked the idea. For now I suggest telling those users to search their email by typing the email in for the search or to look in their spam area. I know that isn't ideal, but we have to assume this issue will be resolved.

Out of curiosity do they should up in the "Lists existing users who have registered on the site but pending approval"?

Hi,

Users that are pending approval should show up in the list in Users -> Pending Approval in backend.

These are users that are showing up enabled but NOT activated.

I discovered that I can activate them manually and then I suppose they need to go through a lost password process. :-( Or, I could set them up with a temporary password.

I am working with my host to see if I can track what is happening with the emails. Some are being delivered, since I am receiving them for my test accounts, and others are apparently not being delivered.

Interestingly I just create a test user and am NOT able to Activate that user although the user is Enabled even when pasting in the activation code that I received. Odd.

I would love to know exactly how Enabled and Activated are different.

Hi,

Enabled means the user is allow to log in and use your site while disabled user means the user is banned.

Activated means the user is halfway through the process of registering, and just requires them to confirm their identity.

If you are having issues with activation, then please provide us your site's access and FTP access so that we can investigate this for you.

Please note that there are some password issues with Joomla 3.1.X and 3.2.0. If you are on these versions then do upgrade your Joomla version.

Thank you for the note about upgrading Joomla. I would like to upgrade this site once I know it won't break my templates/framework. I have to work with Joomla Bamboo on this. So far I have not been able to upgrade but I will ask them about my particular template now.
