I wish this is possible
We'll add this into 1.3 as a settings so the admin can choose if they want the suggestion to work for everyone or friends only.

perhaps in general the way invites are done currently should be looked at. the way of typing one name into a box is perfectly fine for tagging / mentioning but for invites? what if you want to invite 20, 50, 100 people? I guess no user will open a window with his friendslist to check who should be invited, then switch over to another window and type in the name one by one and then start the process all over again - or would you do that ?

Hello Alex,

I think it's ideal if you know the person's name because let's face it, if your site has billions of users, you definitely would go for a custom system

Hi Mark,

If I may suggest, just like in facebook when viewing all Friends a nice thumbnails or People with their name below it and a search box above the thumbnail. I think that way Admin will not have to think for the names all the time.

Just my 2cents.

Thanks,

Jackson

yeah, exactly
if you want to invite one person you type in the name (as it is now) but if you want to invite a bunch of people you just click on 20 faces and send them all in one rush within seconds...

I am also wondering if there is a way to create a group and then invite people who are not yet members of the site to come to the site, create an account, and then join the group. I would love to do this from within the group so I would have a record of who was invited.

I like the ideas presented here. I completely agree that an admin should be able to choose if members can send group invites to non friends. On facebook it was nice to have non friends have me join a group.

Mark, it's been a few months since this update. Any updates on whether it will be included in a near release?

Hello Tim,

We'll try to include this in the future but as of now, our hands are already pretty tied up with the development of 1.3

Hi Mark,

Isn't this already in v1.3 roadmap? And looking at it, "Allow users to invite non friends into group" is already done. Unless, this is different from what the description is.

This thread says "As an Admin" well I guess Groups has no configuration that Members cannot invite Users to a Group. It would be nice to add that feature in v1.3.x

Ah yes, sorry too many things in my mind currently. I think if I recall this correctly, it's already added into 1.3. I am currently focusing on EasyBlog 4 right now as more attention is needed there.
