Hi,
I was wondering if it is possible to have 2 different blogs created with easyblog. I will explain, I want a blog in English and a blog in Spanish. I set up them already with 2 different categories and the possibility to subscribe to the category but if someone subscribe to my blog (the main one) they will subscribe to both and have notifications from both. This is a bit of a hassle for the user as because a English speaker is not interested in a post in Spanish. What I will like to do is to create a blog in my Spanish website and a different one in my English website. is that possible?

Regards, Carlos
Hello Juan,

If you want to have 2 different components of Easyblog in the same site, I believe it is not possible to be done.

If this is not the issue may I know what do you mean by
want a blog in English and a blog in Spanish
. Is it a same blog post or different blog post? If it is a same blog post, you can use multi-language environment where all the blog post will be translated to either English or Spannish. But if it is a 2 different blog post, you can continue using different categories for English and Spannish. And about the subscription, you can disable/hide the subscribe to blog and only display subscribe to category.

If you have anymore question, please don't hesitate to ask us.
Hope this will help.
Thanks.

Hi Mohd,

Thanks for your quick response.
The blog is the same but I published the same post in the two languages. I tried to use the multi-language environment as you suggest but I could not make it work. Sorry I am new to easyblog and Joomla by the way
You said that the post will be translated, but it is a reliable translation? or is me doing the translation? either way I will like to give it a go so I will try to work it out.

Cheers, Carlos

Hello Carlos,

I am sorry for the late reply.
Glad to know we are in the same page. If this is the issue, it is best for you to use multi-language environment. You can use 3rd party components for your language switcher and as far as I know, you need translate it by yourself. The advantage is you will only have 1 blog post on you EasyBlog and the translated string will be in the database. So your EasyBlog is nicely displayed and less mess.

But if you can't/don't have the knowledge to do, it is advisable for you to continue using category as your language switcher. You can create a different menu for different category for different language. For example here the screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/L1hY4Jdlw8Eo -> http://screencast.com/t/NRXC71cBRU . And to combine these language menu you can use Joomla module language switcher which is available in Joomla. You need to create new module: Extension Manager > Module Manager > New > Language Switcher.

Looking forward to hear back from you again and please consider this carefully.
Hope this will help.
Thanks.
