Hi

When trying to create a group from the backend I get the following message:
Call to a member function update() on null

It's a new site, so it is possibly something I've missed as part of the configuration. I have created a category for the new group and there is a member who has access to moderate the group.

I've had a look at the logs on the server but there is nothing in there.

If I try and add the group from the front end I get what looks like a 404 error page on the following url

https://www.sitename.net.nz/community/groups/steps/1

I'm also seeing a warning msg in the adminstrator error_log as such:

[08-Dec-2017 09:29:30 UTC] PHP Warning: include(/home/sitename/public_html/administrator/components/com_easysocial/themes/default/profiles/form/registration.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/sitename/public_html/administrator/components/com_easysocial/includes/template/template.php on line 284

Line 283 and 284 of that file above reads

// Magic happens here when we include the template file.
include($this->file);

Any thoughts on what could be causing these issues and how I can fix them?

Thanks in advance
Hi Andrew,

May I know do you have update the group task application in your site yet? If you still do not update it can you try to do so and see if you still get the error?
If this still happened, If it possible to provide us with your FTP and login credential of your site so we can troubleshoot this issue further?

You can add the information needed by edit your first post in the Details section or you can just include your site's access once at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site rather than needing to keep adding them in your replies

Hi

Thanks for coming back so quickly. Awesome support!

I had a look at the group applications. They weren't assigned to users and groups so I selected them and saved. However that didn't help. I've added you as an FTP user to the site and put the details against my profile

Thanks again

Hey Andrew,

I tried to login to the site with the provided login credentials but unfortunately it isn't working for me This is what I get when I tried to login, http://take.ms/2tM0o

By the way, we also just published 2.1.7 about an hour ago, could you update to the latest version and see if that solves the issue for you?

Hi

That should now be sorted and you should now have access. I've also disabled the Media Wiki plugin so that will avoid the error messages

I did the upgrade and that hasn't helped unfortunately. I added the same user to EasySocial as well so you can log in from the front end and see what happens as well.

I tried disabling the JCH optimise plugin I use. I've had that conflict a few times with things, but that didn't help either.

Thanks again for your help

Hey Andrew,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. I tried to login to the back end, but I am getting this error now, http://take.ms/Vz9gu

Sorry about all this. I was sure I had sorted that. I've approved that user and tested it so it should be good to go.

Thanks

Hey Andrew,

Thanks! It seems like the problem isn't related to the tasks app but rather, the default editor for description is set incorrectly. I have set the default editor for group description to "Inherit from default" in the settings under Groups > Layout and it works fine now.

I am guessing that the reason there is an issue was because initially you had probably installed some 3rd party editor / configured it to use a specific editor and then the editor is uninstalled or disabled. Just for your reference, this is the settings, http://take.ms/L1rLF
