This is probably an oversight on my part, but I can't get EasySocial group discussion posts to actually show the post content. The title will display in the Discussion app within the group, but none of the actually post content! What am I overlooking here?

Thanks

Hi mark,

Just upgraded to v1.2.21 and that fix the issue with the discussion content not show ... Thanks!!! ... but now when attempting to attach files to a group discussion item when using the editor's file browser, instead of the link to the file (file was already a group file) ... this is what I get instead of the link:

[file id="3"]20140623 FINAL REPORT OF KEY FINDINGS NMA SURVEY.pdf[/file]

Looks like the short code isn't being recognized?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hello Mark,

Along with the original issue that I mention in the first post in this thread, I've also encountered a problem with videos linked through the status box.

The past behavior was that a video linked in the status box would open up a player, and be played within the EasySocial stream ... That no longer happens and instead the video thumbnail opens the video in a new window at the original site (i.e. youtube). Please tell me that this change was NOT done on purpose!!! Can you point me in the direction of solutions to the two issues mentioned? Is anyone else having these two problems?

Thanks
Frank J

P.S. I know you're going to ask for credentials but is it possible to help me troubleshoot the issue myself?

Hello Frank,

I am really sorry, I missed your thread earlier Anyway I can't really exactly tell you how to troubleshoot this without being able to access the site

Hello Mark ...

Below are the two issues I am encountering in v1.2.21 ...

#1 - Video posted into status no longer play in a player in the activity stream. Now they open up the video in a new window at the site of origin (i.e. youtube, vimeo)

#2 - When attempting to paste a file into a discussion in EasySocial groups the file is not linked and instead the shortcode is displayed

I've created a new site and did a fresh install of easysocial to see if that would make a difference ... it did not and the incorrect behavior documented above was evident in the new install.

If you look in the activity stream you will see a youtube video that was posted and it illustrates the issue #1 above

There is only one group and it has the attempted file attachment to see an example of issue #2.

My issue is this, I cannot open the production site, but I can give you access to the new install that was done for testing. If you fix the issue in the test site, it will be important that you please give me the steps required to migrate the corrections to the production site.

Even though the test site is v3.2.4 Joomla, the production site is v3.3.x and they both versions of Joomla exhibit the same behaviors as referenced above.

Hello Frank,

I have fixed the issues with the youtube videos not playing on the stream and you can fix this on your live site by copying the file /components/com_easysocial/controllers/crawler.php

As for the issues with the group file attachments, I have modified the file /administrator/components/com_easysocial/tables/discussion.php to address this issue. You just need to copy this file to your live site and you are good to go
