I've been using Easyblog for a while but I've been repeatedly hacked with spam blog entries (despite upgrading to latest version of Easyblog). I'm using Joomla 5.2.19 and the blog is at http://www.westcountrylets.co.uk/blog

How can I prevent this?
Disable blog posting by registered members, via acl manager. If blog comments are spam, then consider enabling akismet integration, or inbuilt captcha

Install the free SpamBotCheck plugin from vi-solutions, it stops virtually all spam registrations and allows you to see a log of them to monitor how often you are attacked.

You could register with StopForumSpam and BotScout for free as well.

If you wish to control all registrations, only allow them by admin authorisation, not self registration (in global configuration). It can be a useful way to handle registrations until they grow to a size that is too big for admin approval by yourself.

Hello Ben,

I am sorry but I don't mean to be disrespectful here but being hacked and being spammed is two different issues altogether. Your post is really misleading because being hacked means that the user gains site admin access to your site.

By the way, you are getting spam most likely because you allow users to register on your site and in EasyBlog's ACL, you have configured registered users to be allowed to publish blog posts.
