Dear Stackideas,

Is there anyway to make the blog more uniform in regards to layout of images and text and sizes of images?

I am used to using an older plugin called "Master's AutoReadmore" which took any image of the article and kept it a certain width and then truncated your text at the specified number allowing placing multiple blog articles on one page in a very cleaned up, symmetric layout.

I am trying the layout with limiting words and all but I can't seem to figure out how to control my images better. (these are images that were from past articles created before Easyblog)

thanks,

Stan
Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

Perhaps you can show some example how it look like previously?

Also can you provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site so we can better have a look?

Yes -

Here is an example of how the Master's Readmore plugin sizes the images and gives a consistent layout. The example shows how this is in Joomla content articles:

Here is an example of how I'm doing with 2 column layout with EasyBlog for the same category of articles:

I have set the truncation also but for some reason it doesn't seem to limit all articles to the same length.

Thanks,

Stan

Hey Stan,

I've checked this plugin "Content - Masters Auto Read More" from your backend, it seems like this plugin only can integration with Joomla article, k2 and FJ Related content, perhaps you can request this plugin developer and see is it can integration with Easyblog?

Arlex,

I actually wasn't asking that but more asking if there is any way to tweak the layout parameters for EasyBlog in order to have a more consistent layout in terms of image sizes and article sizes.

I'm not determined that it has to look exactly like this however what I was hoping for is a more consistent size of images and text. As I said, even when I went to the layout and setup the "truncator" area, it didn't seem like I could really keep my articles the same length.

As you see on the 2 column layout, the articles are ending at different places. I was hoping to keep them spaced evenly.

this is what I was basically asking.

Thanks,

Stan

I am sorry for the misunderstand in earlier, I already applied some css fix in this file -> JoomlaFolder/templates/sj_lifemag/html/com_easyblog/styles/custom.css

@media (min-width:1024px) {
div#fd.eb .eb-post-body.type-standard img {
width: 120px;
height: 100px;
float: left !important;
margin: 10px 30px 10px 10px !important;
}
}

It should display almost the same with your Joomla article page, can you give it a check?

Note : Remember clear your browser cache before you test.

Arlex,

Thanks for the help.
I am wondering a couple more things:
1. Is there any way to get each article on the front blog pages where there are multiple ones showing to simply end at the same location or is this pretty difficult? it seems if I change the title font size, this will fix the top two articles. For the third article, there are more pictures showing and for the fourth, there is substantially more text showing.
2. Why is the article "how we prepare for mission" showing so much more text than the others despite the truncation that is set? Are the images in the others somehow counting towards this count?

3. In the Joomla blog of the same articles, it has pulled one image from each article to be the "main image" in the blog. In the article "how we prepare for mission" it has pulled the image of the author which was at the end of the article up to be the main image. Is the only way to do this to move the image in the article?

Lastly, when I click on "categories" in the black bar, I am refreshed to the same page. Is there somewhere else that is supposed to take me?

thanks so much. I am excited to use EasyBlog in this site and community.

Hi Stan,
1. Is there any way to get each article on the front blog pages where there are multiple ones showing to simply end at the same location or is this pretty difficult? it seems if I change the title font size, this will fix the top two articles. For the third article, there are more pictures showing and for the fourth, there is substantially more text showing.
I'm not sure if this can be achived on your site, but we can try to work towards that. You can try to change the font size of blog post titles if you like, but keep in mind in the future if a blog post with a long title is created then you would again experience the same issue. For the third article, actually how would you like the introtext to be displayed?
FYI, any readmore tags in an article will be prioritized first before the truncation settings in the Layout settings page. This is why you are seeing more text being displayed in the fourth article(http://take.ms/Ozw6X). Perhaps you can try removing the readmore tags first, then the truncation settings would be respected.
2. Why is the article "how we prepare for mission" showing so much more text than the others despite the truncation that is set? Are the images in the others somehow counting towards this count?
The reason the article is showing more text is because of the readmore tag that is set in the article. As mentioned in my answer to the first question, readmore tag are prioritizes over the truncation settings. Images do not count towards the character truncation count.
3. In the Joomla blog of the same articles, it has pulled one image from each article to be the "main image" in the blog. In the article "how we prepare for mission" it has pulled the image of the author which was at the end of the article up to be the main image. Is the only way to do this to move the image in the article?
I'm not sure what you would like to achieve. To better confirm my understanding, would you like to remove this image from the listing?
Lastly, when I click on "categories" in the black bar, I am refreshed to the same page. Is there somewhere else that is supposed to take me?
The 'categories' button on the toolbar is supposed to take you to the category page with a list of EasyBlog categories. The reason why that did not happen is because you did not have an EasyBlog (Posts) Frontpage menu item. You need this menu item as it function as the home page for Easyblog. Without it, the system would be confuse and this will break EasyBlog's site structure. You can create this menu item, hidden or visible if you like, as long as it exist on the site.
