I don't see anywhere in settings or themes where I can disable/remove either the blog header or the blog navigation menu. Do I have to do a template override or hide with CSS? What would be the suggested method?

You can disable the header by turning off this option in EasyBlog>Settings>Layout>Toolbar: http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-01-21_1103.png . As for the blog navigation, may I know which you are referring to? Please advise.
