The url for my second uploaded image was: http://www.alpineascent.com/community/photos/item/2-p1040715-jpg/josh

We got the site name, then the menu item, then "photos". I'm cool with all that. But then we start seeing other stuff in the URL which I think could be a bit cleaner. Why not have it something like http://www.alpineascent.com/community/photos/2-image-title
A while ago I heard some one say that EasySocial is attempting to use the same practices as Joomla in terms of URL structure. Why not with images?

Also the images uploaded should also be considered. The image upload path isn't as important as the url that the viewer and the search engine see. Just trying to make sure EasySocial starts out as clean as possible to avoid future complications.
Thanks for the heads up on this Josh, I don't think we would modify it on 1.0.x or 1.1.x but we'll probably see what we can do on 1.2.x

Hello Josh,

Hm, do you mean you want to get rid of the /item/ and the /josh ?

That would be nice. But that still doesn't fix the entire issue. Right now EasySocial uses the file name as part of the upload title. In my case it was "p1040715" and then adds a "-jpg" to the url. This doesn't tell us much about the photo (for the user or the search engine). From what I understand better url's that are more relevant to the content help with the ranking in search engines. Maybe not by much, but when it comes to search engine ranking every little bit helps. Especially as a site gets more content.

The gallery on my site (the same one that uses EasySocial) uses good practices for URLs. Here's an example:
http://www.alpineascent.com/photo/josh/golden-horn-2444
Maybe it could have done without "josh" in it, but that small little bit in the url is acceptable for the other result which is that it says the image title in the url and keeps it relatively short.
