Hi Support

As of now I have a Blog with articles get pushed to Twitter, Facebook & LinkedIn. I usually log into my Twitter, Facebook & Linked and post links to extra stuff from other sources that I consider interesting.

Now I have Easy Social and every thing changed.

I would like to post some of these links on the finalBUG site! i.e. links to extra stuff that I used to post exclusive on Twitter, Facebook & LinkedIn!

The first thing I thought of was creating a group and calling it for EG finalBUG social hub. Ideally I would like this group to push to Social Media as Easy Blog does but as I understand things this does not happen as of now. The reasoning being, as of now I post the same link in Social Hub and then Twitter, Facebook & LinkedIn!

1) Are there plans to push stuff from Easy Social too Social media? In other words I am wondering if my group strategy is the best?

2) Assuming that it is a good idea to go the group way how can I get a specific open group to show up in the Sites stream? i.e. the stream where user activity etc shows up?

thanks

Paul
ps I have now also realised that there are effectively at least 2 ways to stream stuff like this:

Module mod_easysocial_stream

and the stream built into the Community Page of Easy Social

For the first way there does not seem to be any method to control the stream.
For the second method there is a way but I just do not understand it!!!

I am confused! I admit it

best

Paul,

1. Set up an Open Group.
2. Give it your Title: FinalBug SocialHub - Add a short description: Open Group Discussions on ? Whatever the subject focus is about.
3. Make sure Groups menu is set to public access so people can access the Group.
4. Do a test post and Social Share it to Twitter. Title it: Test Post from FinalBug Social Hub.
Log out of your site so you can test the site as a none member with public access only.

5. Go to Twitter where the test post should have been posted. Click the link and go back to the FinaBug SocialHub Group.
Can you access it properly? Does it work properly for public access? If you were someone accessing the site for the first time does it make them want to join the site?

The best way to find out if your site works as expected for public access is to do these three things: TEST - TEST - TEST

Make any adjustments necessary to fine tune the site and site access.

Hope this helps.

Hi Randall

Here is the short answer. I have done some very basic testing and it seems to work 90%. Will do more testing, testing and testing.

Off the top of my head. This strategy could have a lot of advantages:

It gives me one place to “Share” all those little thoughts that are too small for a blog post on the Blog too Social Media!

The actually logging in bit to FB and Co. becomes secondary.

To date I have been pretty much posting links to other Social Media links which is kind of a mugs game!!!

The above strategy would help drive traffic back to my Site from Social Media platforms.

I will need to get my head around this in its entirety and read the article that you posted. And then get back to you. Again.

By the way maybe this is of interest for you. It is something that I want to look into within the next 6 months or so:

http://www.mintjoomla.com/blog/item/335-cobalt-complete-training-platform.html

The kind of direction that I am interested in going in the long run! The only problem being the Clock that is running…

Will also give the link you just posted the attention that it deserves :-)

more later

Hello Paul,

We have mixed feedbacks about auto posting to social networks. There are a group of users who wants to use JFBConnect and there are another group of users who doesn't. We do have plans to add additional social buttons in the future and when we do that, we'll also add the auto posting to the social networks.
