Hi,

did I missed something or isn't it possible to see sub-categories when a main category is selected in the filter drop down?

And why is the filter drop down not orderd by alphabetically?
Hi Norman,

Kindly find my response for your inquiries below:
did I missed something or isn't it possible to see sub-categories when a main category is selected in the filter drop down?

-> It is current default behavior where it will not list down the sub-categories of the main category.

And why is the filter drop down not orderd by alphabetically?

-> The dropdown category is follow to the category ordering eg: http://take.ms/Z6Hlk

Changing the category ordering seems not to change the ordering of the dropdown to me, screenshots attached.

The ordering of the categories in the dropdown is dependent on the settings (which is by default, latest first). However changing the settings to update the ordering will also affect the front end. I will log this under our issue tracker and get this fixed in EasyBlog 5.2 so that filters at the back end will always use the ordering column to order the categories.

By the way, are there any reasons for you to have the filter to be on a specific ordering since these filters are only used on the back end?

Hi, thanks for your reply.

Yes, because keeping a clean and unchanging structure is key if you have > 300 posts in different categories.
Therefore the category filter dropdown should follow the category tree.

It would even better to have the feature to display every post from a certain category, even if the post belongs to a sub-category.

I think that the backend is based on the principle of displaying everything and then using the search or the category dropdown.
This is maybe good enough for a lot of blogs, but if you want to use a deeper structure for your blog, you are going to have hard times with the current blog posts backend. (But that is someting for the feature request forum.)
