I created a profile type and set a bunch of avatars plus a default one. I noticed recently that new users were appearing with an avatar of a "grey man with a tie" - not an image I had set anywhere.

I went into the avatars section of the profile on the back end and saw all my images had gone and what was there as as attached screen shot - lots of the same image and even more than one marked as "Default"

I slowly deleted each one (every time I got an error message saying it couldn't be deleted but it did vanish of the screen) and re-added my images and set the one for the default.

I then proceded to copy this profile type ready to make another and was suprised to find in my new profile the avatar images were back to the messed up state. And yes the reason for that was simple, in the original profile type it was also messed up again!

This is not only frustrating (it takes a while to delete each image one by one and then add the news ones so very frustrating when a while later it gets messed up again) but also it is potentially insulting for my users as my website is one that suports LTBTQ and encourages people to move away from binary stereotypes, so when someone signs up, to present them with a "choice" of lots of identical "men in ties" pictures may well put people off from completing the sign up.

I have also just found out that today a couple of users changed their profile image (avatar) and although that was recoded in the stream etc, when I look now at their profiles, it is showing this "man with tie" image instead.

Sorry to but this is urgent and I need a fix for this NOW!!!
Hi,

Ok it seems like the error message of "please correct the respective field" is actually coming from the birthday field. Because the birthday year is 1915, while the field is configured to accept years from 1930 only. I set the birthday to a year > 1930 and the avatar is saving properly.

Hello Andrew,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. I am not really sure how to reproduce this issue here. This is what I have been trying on my end:

1. Duplicate the profile - The avatars remain intact
2. Registered on the site as a user and selected one of the default avatar. Then, changed the profile picture - The avatars remain intact too.

Yes sorry, I realise it is not your official support hours.

If you look at the profile type "Professional" on my website you will see that showing this behaviour (I reset the standard profile this morning so for now it looks like it is holding it. ) I realise it can be difficult to figure what is going on if you can't reproduce, but perhaps there are some clues in the Professional profile, such as the fact ot shows two default images and also if you try and delete an image, you get the error message saying it can't be deleted but it still seems to.

Also if you look at the stream it shows the user Belle changed her profile image, yet if you go to her profile it shows the default image (which changed from the tie man to the one there now when I changed the default from the back end.) I tried to change her image from the back end and get a message about an error on one of the profile fields.

Hi,

1. I tested uploading and deleting avatar in the Professional profile in backend it seems to be working properly. There could be some corrupted data before. Are you still able to reproduce this?
2. I can't log in to your site's frontend. Could you provide the permalink to Belle's profile?

On a side note, feel free to provide us a test site if you feel more comfortable for us to debug on.

(1) At present it is all behaving in terms of the overall avatar behaviour.

(2) You say you can't log in to the front end. This concerns me as this morning I had two users email me and say they could not log in either (it seems to be around the "invalid token" which I read has been noted as an issue with EasySocial (before upgrading, I had been running JomSocial for a few weeks and we never had an issue with anyone logging in?)

For the profile, the url is https://www.quintasensual.org/profile/214-belle

At the moment the avatar issue seems difficult to reliably reproduce but if it corrupts again I will copy that set up to a test site, but for now not sure there is any advantage in doing this.

Hello Andrew,

Please let us know if this happens again as we are unable to reproduce the issues with the avatar

Will do, although there is still the outstanding issue that the profile "Belle" clearly shows as updating their avatar the other day yet it has the default icon. I tried to manually update it from the back end but get "There was some error in your form. Please correct the respective fields." but am unable to see why?

Hi,

1. I tested the avatar issue on the support account and it seems to be working properly.
2. The FTP account that you've provided does not seem to be connected to the site that you've provided, and as such I am not able to debug and investigate why does the avatar for Belle is not showing correctly.

It is possible that, after uploading an avatar, Belle edit her profile and removed the avatar. This could render this behaviour actually where the stream item that says that Belle has updated her profile picture. The sequence goes by this:

1. Belle uploaded a new profile avatar
2. Stream item is created to state that Belle has updated her profile avatar
3. Belle edit her profile to remove the profile avatar

Under this circumstances, the stream item won't get removed because it is part of her "timeline" history.

Sorry re FTP, it was set to take you to my test site but I have changed that now, so the same details will now take you to the live site instead.

For the avatar / belle issue, yes I get that sequence would account for it but I checked and that isn't the case. Besides even if it was it doesn't explain why back end editing doesn't work. I have now found one other account (mnewing) with the same issue - I saw it had an "old" avatar image so I tried to delete that (which I have done for other accounts that ended up with the incorrect default image) and in this case again I got the error message and could not change it.

Hi,

Are you deleting the avatar from backend by going to backend -> EasySocial -> Users as an administrator?

Yes that is what I was trying. I click the delete button and the old image goes and I see the correct default image showing. When I then click to save and close I get the error message "There was some error in your form. Please correct the respective fields."

Hi,

Hmmm I tested this on a "test" user on your site: http://screen.stackideas.com/2014-10-28_1832.swf

I first upload an avatar, then remove it. Am I doing it correctly to that you were describing?

Yes that of course is just what should happen - so now please try doing that from the back end with account belle or account mnewing and you should find it won't work for those accounts

Thanks - feeling slightly embarressed I didn't work that out!

Thanks for your help on this and I will close this ticket now and start a fresh one if the avatar list messes up again (which I hope it won't!)
