Hi there,

some users are reporting that they are not able to upload new avatar image or cover. Some are getting this error ->

Unexpected end of JSON input.

I tried on my end and with other user profiles but I cant seam to reproduce this. Some users use Firefox and others Chrome. Also users are still able to change existing Avatars and covers but not able to upload new ones after trying we get a loot of same Avatar Stream entry's (Look at video hidden information)
Hello Jean,

Could you get a picture that fails to upload from one of your users? If you and I can't replicate it, it's like finding a needle in the haystack

However, our best bet is to try to use the image that they are using to upload so that we could try to replicate this.

My current assumption is that, it is most likely caused by the file size of the image the user is trying to upload. Perhaps it is too large which hits the php upload limit

Hello Jean,

Hm, very odd indeed. I have tested this file on my account on https://www.crcs.ch/stackideas.html and it does upload just fine. Is this the original file that the user used?

Hm, very strange indeed. Another possibility is that there are some sort of addons on his pc that prevents such uploads. I am not really sure how to reproduce this :|

I will try trouble shooting this with him.

Some users are also reporting same issue on Android with chrome. Could this be some kind of problem with Chrome?

Hello Jean,

Hm, I just tested with that user and it works fine too. Test on Chrome, Safari and Firefox. Maybe if you can ask them:

1. Which operating system
2. Which browser
3. Browser version
4. Are they uploading on profile, event, group or page?

He is telling me this

1. Windows 10
2. Chrom
3. Newest version
4. Error is everywhere profile, event, group and pages.

He is abele to chose existing images but he dose not see any thing Happening when trying to upload, he gets said error. but when I look at stream there are multiple images of the same image because he is trying multiple times to upload. I then delete the multiple images. Really very strange

Hi Mark,

sorry for the delay on this one, but the user with said error was on vacation. He switched to Firefox and has no issues any more. Will let you know if we find out more, but for now you can close this ticket.

Hi Jean-Marc Burri,

Thanks for the update, of course, you can create a new ticket if there is an issue regarding this, so we can find the root issue.
