Hello,

I've seen a number of posts about autoposting not working. I wasn't able to figure out any usable answers to this issue. I have all up-to-date API keys, App IDs etc and my posts don't show up on Facebook, LinkedIN, or Twitter. Nor does Easyblog fetch designated hashtag posts from Twitter.

What can I do to start troubleshooting this?

Cheers,

Ian
So... for the posts that I already have published, I see that there is 3 icons for autoposting. I have to manually click those buttons. Will new posts "auto-post" or is does auto post really mean, click the three social network icons after the post is published?

Also, how do you designate the image that shows up on LinkedIN and Facebook? I get no image at all on LinkedIN and one Facebook post was the author's pixelated image and the other was an uncropped photo from the content. Can I designate a standard square image in the post itself to come up on both of these networks?

Thanks,

Ian

Hey Ian,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is actually a public day off for us here. It actually depends on your settings for the auto posting. If you have configured it to automatically auto post to these social sites, you don't have to click on these buttons.

If you have disabled the option to automatically post when you post a new blog post, then you need to manually click on these social icons to post them. You can configure this in EasyBlog > Auto posting > Facebook under the option "Autopost On New Post".

The image that is used on Facebook / Linkedin is dependent on your post cover. If you have set a post cover, EasyBlog will use that post cover as the image. Otherwise it will try to find the first image in the blog's content. Also, do take note that Facebook does impose a restriction on the image size. Take a look at their best practice guide here, https://developers.facebook.com/docs/sharing/best-practices#images

Hi Mark,

Thank you for this great and complete response. I'm now good to go on Autoposting.

My last question on this subject is the "Fetch Remote Tweets" functionality. I have a few hashtags in the settings and when I tested it, no posts were published. Can you help me troubleshoot this?

Cheers,

Ian

Hey Ian,

Did you already authenticate your Twitter account? I could check this for you if you want but I would need the following access:

1. Twitter login credentials (so that I can test the search on twitter)

2. FTP access (so that I can modify files on your site without worrying for any typo).

Hi Mark,

How can I do this without showing everyone on the forum?

Cheers,

Ian

Hi Ian,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply.

I've checked your site and it seems like you haven't link your easyblog with twitter yet. Can you try to go to your frotntend easyblog dashboard via this url, http://yoursite.com/index.php?option=com_easyblog&view=dashboard&layout=profile&Itemid=611 and click on "sign in via twitter" http://screencast.com/t/aw8pyttkNVS ?

After that wait for the cron to fetch the tweet from your twitter and see how it goes.

Hi there....

Thanks for checking this out. I navigated to where you mentioned and it seems that you are talking about profile based twitter integration. It seems that it's specifically for posting to twitter, and not for fetching tweets, and for the blog author's personal profile only. That's nice to have, and I've enabled it for my profile.

I'm mostly interested in the Fetch Remote Tweets functionality in the backend.

Hey Ian,

Sorry for the confusions earlier. The "tweet" import features are only for authors and it doesn't actually use the account from the auto posting area. Once you linked your Twitter account on the front end, EasyBlog will try to query twitter for specific hashtags and import them as your user.
