EasySocial working beautifully but we have a small registration issue. Because of the many interactive components, we are running all registrations to the Joomla core and bridging component permissions to the core. Our default access level for new members is registered. I want all registered Joomla users to automatically become "huntingplanit social members." (The group name I created to control permissions EasySocial.) It's a pain to have to manually put users into the group althrough yes it can be done in big batches. I would like the assignment process to happen automatically. Sorry that I have looked all through the control panel without finding this. Components often have a "bridges" control page.
If you can help, thanks again.

Hello Jim,

Hm, sorry I think there's a misunderstanding. I am not asking you to repurchase anything I am requesting you to upgrade your EasySocial to the latest version You can download it from http://stackideas.com/dashboard since your subscription is not expired yet, you are entitled to download the latest version. The latest version of EasySocial already has this plugin

Hello Jim,

If you have already selected a default profile in the Profiles area, and if the user plugin is activated, these users who registered through Joomla's registration form will then automatically be assigned to the default profile which you have selected.

Yes, I've had it set up that way all along. And it's not working. Just did another test registration to verify. I have a default profile type: "huntingplanit social members." The Easysocial user plugin is turned on. Still when members register they are not automatically assigned. I have to manually assign them. Otherwise they will not be able to edit their profile. So I'm afraid there must be something else going on. Would you or another team member be willing to take a quick look?
Thanks,
-Jim G.

Hi,
I am just touching base on this. We are ready to roll out and this is one of the last issues. I created a profile type, made it default and hooked it up to new registered Joomla users. But I'm still having to assign new members to the profile type. Without that they do not have access to edit their profiles. Everything else is working great!
Thanks,
-Jim G.

Hello Jim,

Ah, I am really sorry I missed your post earlier By the way, when you mean you "hook it up to the new Joomla registered user", do you mean you manually create these users through the users manager in Joomla?

Hi Mark. No, we have a free registration system for site members. They become registered users. I thought I had the default profile type arranged to automatically import all new registered users. The profile type is called huntingplanit social members. My assumption was that when I created a profile and set is as default, all new registered users would automatically be added. I might be missing a step somewhere, I don't know. Right now when people register, they are added to EasySocial as users. But they aren't being assigned to the default profile. Hence, they can do everything right away except manage their profiles.

Hello Jim,

Sorry, still a little lost here. When a new user registers on the site, is it already being assigned to the profile that you have created? If so, do you mean you want to assign everyone that has registered prior to your new profile type creation to be assigned to the new profile that you have created?

Hey Mark, that's it exactly. I created a profile and designated it as default but new users are not being assigned. They only become EasySocial users unassigned to any profile. So I've been having to do the assignment manually. Clearer now?
Thanks,
-Jim G.

Hello Jim,

Okay I think I get what you mean now because your earlier post mentioned that new users are fine which kinda confuses me Sorry. Can you pass me the link to your registration page so that I can test this out?

No prob, register here: https://huntingplanit.com/join?view=registration. Then you'll find the complete social network under mainmenu/Connect. Try to "edit my profile." This hasn't been working for new users until I manually assign them to the default EasySocial profile I created for site members. Upon registration they are fully enabled on the network in every other way.

Hello Jim,

It looks like you are running a much older version of EasySocial. The latest version is actually v1.1.6 and in the latest release, we actually have a plugin that will automatically link the users to EasySocial profiles

Hi Mark,
I think I took out my subscription in December. Have things changed a lot since then? Will the plugin work with the current version? Can you e-mail it to me? I uploaded the current installation only three months ago. I guess I could upgrade but will be a little laborious because I have to redo some CSS tweaks.

Mark,
Hmmm. I tought that was when I bought the package with all EasyBlog, EasySocial, EasyDiscuss and Komento for the Hunting Plan-it project. But whatever... I am happy to resubscribe if needed. I am just wondering will this plugin work with my older version of EasySocial? I am not sure it's worth the trouble to upgrade, since otherwise everything works great and is nicely integrated. Will the plugin be included if I download the new version? Or can I download it somewhere else on your site. I guess if it won't work I will need to upgrade. Is that where we're at?
Thanks again,
-Jim G.

I guess I will upgrade. Was hoping to not have to because I lose all my CSS customization. Thanks for your patience.

Hello Jim,

Hm, if you have already placed your css tweaks on your Joomla's template css file, it should be perfectly fine

I know but I was in a hurry and simply edited the theme file. An still getting the hang of template overrides via the templates folder. But this is really not that big a deal because there are only a few CSS edits and I downloaded them for future reference.
Thanks and have a good one,
-Jim G.

No problem Jim By the way we just released 1.2.1, you might want to play around with this instead of upgrading to 1.1.6 1.2.1 has tons of new features including Groups

Hi Mark,
The upgrade went great and I really like the new version, I had to redo some CSS customization but it took only 5 minutes. Have a couple questions. I have a menu click to show all users. Works fine except.... At the bottom of the "all users" screen the standard "go to next page" feature appears. Like on Google search. I think there are only two pages of users but the user is shown the option of clicking on page 3 or page 4. I am not sure there is a page 3 or page 4. We don't have that many users yet. Anywyay for example when you try to go to page 3 of all users the user is redirected to the homepage. It should be that when the user gets to the end of all users there is no option to display a further page. This doesn't seem to be happening automatically and may be a bug. You can experience it by logging in to huntingplanit.com as test user/Renegade1$. Then in the "connect menu" click on social network menu/all users. Then try to go to page 3 or 4 of all users.

Also, after I showed huntingplanit.com to a new client, they were really impressed with EasySocial. So I installed it for them. I want to honor the terms and am thinking I need a separate subscription for this new installation. Right? I want to be totally fair and square with you guys because you provide such great support (and great products).

Hello Jim,

I believe there's something not right with the cache in SH404 because when I tried to purge the URLs for EasySocial user's page, whenever I tried to access the page, it seems to be redirecting me back to https://huntingplanit.com/all-board-users?filter=all .

By the way, you can install EasySocial on as many sites as you want but if you would require support for the other sites as well, you are advised to purchase another license or upgrade to the Unlimited plan

Thanks. I guess I'm not surprised; sh404sef has given me a lot of trouble and I am thinking about ditching it. I don't think there is a way to clear the sh404 cache except for their nuclear-option "purge." I guess I can also try upgrading to their latest version. Any other ideas? I'm baffled because the "page 3" click isn't a URL that I edited. I think there is a way to exempt EasySocial in the sh404 control panel.
Thanks, and I'm recommend to client that we purchase support contract for new site. This is going to pretty new to them and they want to operate the site themselves.

Hello Jim,

Hm, perhaps you can try purging all the URLs and clearing the site's cache to see if the issue still persists?
