Hello,

I would like to enable the "Allow unicode aliases" option in the EasyDiscuss settings.

Only this makes the old urls inaccessible (error 404).

Is there a way to automatically redirect urls without unicode aliases, to urls with unicode aliases ?

Thank you,
Philippe
Unfortunately there is no work around for this because we do not store the history of permalinks. I think this is not feasible because you end up having a very huge database of permalinks and it will eventually eat up on your performance.

Thank you for your response Mark.

So I have to manually register 301 redirects in the htaccess ?

And if I understand unicode option adds the unique identifier in the URL.
So if the permalink changes, the page remains accessible, so there is no 404 error ?

Unfortunately yes, and I think it is perfectly fine because a forum isn't really something that you want to have priorities on. You would want Google to have higher priorities on your main pages. This is also why we don't really optimize our forums for SERP.

On the other hand, yes if you have unicode urls, it adds the id into the url.
