I'm using EasyBlog and Jomsocial.
I'm wanting all new users to be auto-subscribed to the blog (as a part of terms) but when they receive an email that there is an unsubscribe link at the bottom.

Any thoughts on how to do this?

Michael
Hello Michael,

I am really sorry but unfortunately it's not possible now You can however enable the option to send to everyone on the site if you want under the Settings > Susbcriptions area but unfortunately it doesn't generate an unsubscribe link though.

That's really annoying.....
I've already auto-subscribed everyone but now one person has asked to be unsubscribed. From what you are telling me I have no way of doing this.

Hello Michael,

Hm, can I know how did you "auto-subscribed" the person?

When users sign-up to the website they are automatically subscribed to the blog. I want it so that they can opt-out if they desire.

Hello Michael,

If they are subscribed to the blog, they will be able to see the "Unsubscribe link" in the emails. All you need to do is to disable the "Send email to all users" option in EasyBlog settings

Hello Michael,

If they are not already a subscriber, you need to manually import them through phpmyadmin under the table jos_easyblog_site_subscription. I will try to add an "import" tool in EasyBlog 4.0 so that it would be much easier to import new subscriptions

I actually don't use phpmyadmin.....
What I'm really after is the following:
1. All new users are automatically subscribed to the blog.
2. They can opt-out at anytime with a unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email.

Please don't create a more sophisticated import....the above would be great!

Hello Michael,

1. In Easyblog Notification setting, there is an option called Notify all members on new entries. This option is to notify all users if there is a blog post. This means that once they registered in Joomla, it is considered as user/member.
2. This unsubscribe link is unusable if you using Notify all members on new entries. This is because, even they have unsubscribed , they are still Joomla users.

If you want only to notify subscriber (not a member), there is no setting to make them auto-subscribe once they registered to your site. Hope this helps clarify the situation.

I just received an email that Paul Archer posted the following in this thread....for some reason his post isn't displaying.
Just for the record....I completely agree with him. It would be so easy to create an "opt-out" table if you are sending emails to everyone.

Paul Archer below
So will we ever have the ability to Auto Subscribe New and Registered Users with the option for them to Unsubscribe? Seems like reasonable request to me. If my clients cannot have this option it is likely they will be looking for alternatives to easyblog.

Hello Michael,

Thanks for the heads up on this. I will see if there's a way that we can actually enhance this in EasyBlog 4.1. However, do take note that automatic adding of users to your subscription list will always eventually lead yourself to a very bad position. Why?

1. Most of the time they wouldn't want to subscribe to your newsletter
2. Your newsletter list is not always clean.
3. You are wasting resources sending tons of emails to users who doesn't want to be reached.

What we do here, is that we maintain a double opt-in method where you need to confirm your subscription in order for you to subscribe to our newsletter. In other words, our newsletter list would be pretty "pure" in that sense where we do not pay extra premium to Mailchimp for users who doesn't want to subscribe and we have lesser spam reports
