Hello there,

I have searched everywhere and I seem to only find that a user group only polices the 'viewing' of particular categories.

My goal is to have a particular user group write within a particular category and its children. So, I and other admin can use the blog to write within News and Information. One user group can write about their subject matter and its children categories. And the same for another user group. As it stands, I can only seem to have 'any' user write in 'any' category.

If I set up a team blog, I have to assign each user individually, but then only others in that team blog can view it?

I can't sign a thousand users into a team blog, but would like to have it so that when a user is associated with a particular group, they have particular author permissions...like in joomla and K2. Am I missing something? I can't make this work.

Admin: The Website Blog --> News + Information,
User group 1: Can't write in website blog. Can write in Category 1 ---> its children
User group 2: Same layout as usergroup 1.

Does this make sense? I can make it work in joomla and K2, I'm just sure I'm missing something.

Thank you
Hey Chris,

My goal is to have a particular user group write within a particular category and its children. So, I and other admin can use the blog to write within News and Information.

Every blog post has to have a category. So you can assign a category for example News and Information category to just admin user groups and other categories to their respective user groups.

For permissions, you can configure the permissions of each category by heading into the Categories page, click on a category that you wish to configure and select permissions. Under General>Privacy select Assigned Joomla User Group, then you can select which category/s can create/edit a blog post under that category(refer to screenshot).

FYI, to post in children categories, you need to have user group permissions enabled in both parent and children categories.

Hope this helped you understand better.

Ah, awesome, thank you, I get it now. I never saw the 'privacy' bit add the options.

That's great, thank you!
