hi, i have just tried the fix from here:

http://stackideas.com/forums/buttons-publish-now-and-apply

but for me it does not work! after click on Apply is no Draft saved and the Blog entry is still published!
Hi Rene,

I unable to access to your FTP access. Can you provide us with the correct credentials so that we can help you apply this directly on your site.

Please advise.

Hi Rene,

I am sorry for the delayed reply.
I have tested this on your site and it seems to be working correctly as it should be. Am I missing anything here?

Please advise.

Hi Rene,

This fix only works when you create a new blogpost and click apply. But, when you're editing a blogpost, the publish status fall back to the blogpost publish setting. Am I missing anything here?

Please advise.

Hello Rene,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Sorry, but I believe there is some miscommunications between my colleague and the other ticket. The "Apply" button does exactly the same thing as the "Save" button.

The only difference is that the apply allows you to save and stay on the same page while the save button, saves the post and redirects you to the entries page. As simple as that

hi mark, thanks for your explanation but it works different on my site. i just tried again with support account!

ok we have 3 Button in Write new Blog:

1. Save (Icon)
2. Apply (white)
3. Publish now (green)

1. Test Post is saved and User redirect to Drafts
2. Test Post is saved with status unpublished in entries page but User is not redirected
3. Test Post is puplished, stream in JS generated and User redirected to entries page

ii still use the file from Mohd. st this the way how it should work?

No, let me just clarify this again. The "Apply" button and the "Save" button does exactly the same thing. The only difference is that the "Apply" button would allow you to save and redirect back to the same page where you are writing your post. The "Publish" button on the other hand redirects you to the entries page.

If you used whatever hack that was provided, it is provided as is and we do not provide support for hacks.

hi mark, why did you talk about "Apply" button and "Save" button if the main issue was with "Publish Now " and "Apply" button?
http://stackideas.com/forums/buttons-publish-now-and-apply

sorry but i believe here is still a miscommunications!

i have done a test with following 3 Buttons:

1. Save Button (Icon), 2. Apply Button (white) and 3. Publish now Button (green)

Result:

1. Test Post is saved and User redirect to Drafts
2. Test Post is saved with status unpublished in entries page but User is still on Write Blog Page and not redirected
3. Test Post is puplished, stream in JS generated and User redirected to entries page

Sorry, when I mean save, I mean the "Publish Now" button. I am going to explain this again.

When a user clicks on the "Publish Now" or "Apply" button, it doesn't go through a different logic. It does the same thing. The only difference is that the "Apply" button would redirect you back to the same page while the "Publish Now" button would redirect you to the entries listings.

We will not change this behavior.

At that moment button "Apply" saves new post, but not publishs.
And it's very good. Authors can save their posts and work with them later, and publish them only when post will ready.

Hello Romagromov,

Just like my colleague Mark said, Apply button does publish the blog post but it will redirect you back to the same page. If you want to save the blog post but not being published, you can save it as draft and can be open anytime from draft menu.
