API Error when upgrading from 3.9 to 5 easy blog

We are trying to upgrade to the latest easy blog. It's keep s telling me that the API is incorrect. Also the link to "my account" creates a broken link. I manually came to the site, generated a new API key many times and the updated only get's to 5 % and fails. Then it says API invalid. Please help!
Hey there,

Upgrading from EasyBlog 3.9.x or older to 5.x requires a full uninstall / installation. The reason is because there are some core files which were modified in this release and running the updater would actually break things.

Rest assured that your data would not get erased when you perform an uninstall. Theme files and other core files would however get erased, so if you have made any modifications, it's best to make a backup of the modifications first.
