I installed EasyBlog a while back and have never had a problem. Easy Social will not install. Please give us a manual installation path. I should not need to consult the author of the software nor give ftp access to load in a brand new, fully functional version of Joomla with no other extensions loaded. I'm not sure what installation method you use, but download or full installation methods do not work. All perms are writable. Far more memory than required, yet the install will not go. This is not the only software I've purchased from you and been unable to install. Please, please, please fix this installer. While you are at it, please fix Easy Discuss too. Thanks.
Also, it would be nice to see an actual error message, not just a spinning wheel for hours.

If you can able to provide us with your site backend and FTP access so I can give you the exact answer what is the error it return from the ajax response.

From what I see on your screenshot, I suspect the problem is actually because the "file copying" takes time and because your server is extremely slow in copying the files, it actually failed.

But I can't 100% sure it relate with this problem yet, if you can't provide us with your site access, perhaps you can try check the ajax response from the browser development tool and see what error it return?

You can download my attached video and see how to view the ajax response during installation.

This is where the installer is failing. I have no idea exactly what it is looking for.

Request URL: http://www............com/administrator/index.php?option=com_easysocial&ajax=1&controller=installation&task=installCopy
Request Method: POST
Status Code: 403 Forbidden
Remote Address: 10.224.1.45:80
Referrer Policy: no-referrer-when-downgrade

Thank you,

Dave

It seems like you show us that ajax response it actually return 403 Forbidden.

It would be best if you can consult with your webhotsing provider and see what is the reason why the server return this 403 Forbidden.

By the way, I suspect it might be caused by mod_security rules on your server, perhaps you can try temporary disable this mod_security on your server and try run again the installation and see if this would help.

Because sometime it might be not configure correct for the security rules so caused this false alarm.

Keep us update then if your webhosting provider found out something regarding this.

Change host!

Its riducouls to come up with these errors 1000 of people have done this installations thousands of times without a hitch of a problem.

So your crappy host is a major problem for you so the best to not have this problem again is to again change host.

The solution was to disable mod_evasive. The log files for the virtual host revealed nothing, however the global host files led me right to the problem. Thank you Arlex for your help. This solution was much simpler than just giving up and trying another host as ssnobben suggested.

"mod_evasive is a module for Apache that provides evasive action in the event of an HTTP Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS/DoS) attack or brute force attack."

Apparently it didn't like your installer. lol

Thanks,

Dave

Thanks for sharing this with us Dave and glad that your issue is resolved now. Just to chip in, our scripts do try to report any errors whenever possible but in cases like this where it does not even reach our scripts, it would be impossible for our scripts to report or show any error messages since it is already blocked before it reaches the scripts.

If you have permanent problem as you say "This is not the only software I've purchased from you and been unable to install. Please, please, please fix this installer. While you are at it, please fix Easy Discuss too. Thanks. "

In that case It would be easier to change host that have a better configuration settings of their hostings set up. Or you can config mod_evasive to whitelist or increase blockings..its up to you.

Stackideas installer script is tested million of times
