Hey guys two problem I need your advice on.

I have the Joomla 3.7.2 with Easy Blog 5.1.8 and PHP 7.1

AMP Errors
Recently after updating the EasyBlog version I noticed that search results from Google for my blog post contain AMP errors. These errors are also reflected within Google Webmasters. (See attached 2 screen-grabs.) How can I fix this without simply disabling AMP support from your SEO settings?

Snippet Issues
Second issue (This has been an problem for a longer time) - After creating my blog post and trying to share the post to social media the snippet does not always auto-populate with a featured image or meta-description. The attached image shows me trying to share my latest post to Facebook however the snippet is blank. How can I force this to work all the time and not just sometimes?

Thanks for your time

Dave
Hello Dave,

Thanks for getting back to us on this. I have checked your site and it looks like Google is detecting some <script> tags being generated by PB Web development Google analytics plugin as you can see here, http://take.ms/sECQq

Ideally, the plugin should not render any script tags unless the document format is html. In this case, the format is "amp" and this is why Google is throwing errors.

There is 2 ways to solve this:

1. Contact PB Web Development and inform them that their plugins should only be adding codes if the document format is html.

2. Provide us with a ftp and we'll hack their plugin to prevent the plugin from being loaded on non html format pages.

As for the other issue with missing Facebook covers, are there any specific post that has this issue? Could you provide us with the link to this particular page?

Thanks for the feedback here guys.

I have disabled the Google Analytics plugin I was using. I then rather inserted my Google Tracking code into my Rockettheme Gantry template settings. I will see if this makes a diff and let you know if I am still stuck.

Regarding the lack of a social share-snippet - Try sharing my most recent post to FaceBook: http://www.myebook.co.za/mastering-the-amazon-kdp-tax-interview-everything-you-need-to-know

See the attached image - It is blank. Interestingly the share to LinkedIn populated the snippet perfectly.

Waiting on your feedback.

Hi Dave,
Regarding the social share, perhaps during the first time sharing FB did not get the correct data and this is cached in their server. To address this, you can head to FB's opengraph debugger page to rescrape the info until Facebook retrieves the right data from the url(http://take.ms/TwKjt).

Interesting so this worked (re-scraping) for one post and failed for another.

Please have a look at the two attached print-screens.

1 - Why would you thing the FB sharing of the post in image would fail?
2 - What are the error messages that the FB Debugger is giving me?

Here is the post in question that still failing to share the full snippet: http://www.myebook.co.za/lost-in-translation-how-to-know-which-version-of-english-might-be-best-for-your-book

Hey Dave,
I'm not really sure why you were experiencing the 'could not connect to server' issue. I tried rescraping the post info in the debugger again and it seems fine now(http://take.ms/NvL4a).

If the image meets Facebook requirements and the page is accessible to FB, then FB should be able to crawl the image. But when there's an issue, we need to examine it to determine the reason. If re-scraping works, then you should be good.

Seems to be working today - many thanks for your help - will mark as resolved.

Out of interest after disabling the plugin causing the AMP issue what is the best way to get Google to re-test?

You're most welcome Dave.
To test AMP pages, you can use this url: https://search.google.com/test/amp
Regards.
