Hey there,

sorry for staying that noobish but I try to give my best to keep support questions on a minimum, really!

I want to test the Amazon S3 service. I have seen I can put information into the EasySocial configuration. When I use the S3 I would like to go with all data, because I think it would be faster than my hoster at the moment.

As far as I have understood the data will be uploaded automatically time by time. Now the questions come:

1. What if I do not want to use S3 any longer. Can I easily switch if off at the 'remote storage' settings and my site will run from my hoster again? Or are all files ONLY saved on S3 from then on and there is no going back?

2. At the main setting in EasySocial I can put a CDN for scripts and stylesheets. Can I use the same S3 for this?

3. At the 'remote storage' options I miss "EU - Frankfurt" but that would be the S3 location I would need, is that a problem?

Thank you.
Hey Sabih,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply,

1. What if I do not want to use S3 any longer. Can I easily switch if off at the 'remote storage' settings and my site will run from my hoster again? Or are all files ONLY saved on S3 from then on and there is no going back?

Unfortunately that was not possible to re-sync back when you switch back from Amazon to local at this point of time, but we will see if we can improve this in future release.

2. At the main setting in EasySocial I can put a CDN for scripts and stylesheets. Can I use the same S3 for this?

Are you referring this CDN URL? (screenshot : http://screencast.com/t/AlJJNDF7q3 )
To be honestly, I never use this S3 CloudFront CDN before, but I believe it should work, because it look like that configuration similar with other CDN provider.

3. At the 'remote storage' options I miss "EU - Frankfurt" but that would be the S3 location I would need, is that a problem?

I will add this new region name storage path in next release version.

Arlex... I'm interested in experimenting with this feature too. When you say it's not possible to 'go back' from Amazon S3 after you've activated it, do you mean it's not automatic... but presumably if you were to copy files manually back from Amazon S3 it could be done?

I haven't used Amazon S3 before but presumably you'd have access to view your files held there and download them to upload back to another server.

Thanks Andy heading up on this.

Yes, you have to manually copy the files from Amazon S3 to your server.

I already add this issue into our codebase, we will see if that is possible to implement this in the future release.
