Hi

I have been using easysocial for some time now it's so cool !!!

If i switch to amazone S3 for my photo storage what will happen to the photos that i already have on my site ? will thez display correctly or do i have to migrate them ?

Thanks

Peter
There's actually a known issue with the photos not rendering if you are on S3 but this is already addressed in 1.2.0

i think i was not clear

i do not have an issue

i was just thinking that as my site grows one day soon i might have to use S3

the day i start to use S3, wiil easysocil still show all the photos that are on my actual host server or will the not show any more if i decide to choose S3 for remote storage ? il looks like i have to choose one or the other ?

Hello Peter,

If you decide to switch to Amazon S3 in the future, it would still work because the way it works currently, EasySocial will quietly upload these photos via the cron service. So everything would work as it is

Are you deleting the file on the local server once it is uploaded to S3?

Yes, once the files are uploaded to S3, it will be deleted but there is an original photo which isn't uploaded to S3 as we use it for rotating photos.

Hi

On your easysocial documentation is says : "Once you are done, save the settings and you are good to go. Next, you will need to create the cronjob so that the system will be able to upload the files over silently."

how do i create this cron job ?

Okay, so it is not a specific cronjob for S3 it is a global cronjob for emails end S3 etc ?

There's only a single cronjob for everything
