Hi,

I just upgraded to the newest Easysocial and love the new toolbar look! I just noticed however that the component looks quite different on my iPad - ie. it looks more like the mobile version.

Prior to the upgrade, the component when viewed on my iPad worked like on my desktop.

I usually use my iPad for things I can't really do well on my mobile, so to me, it makes sense to keep the extra functionality that sites usually have when viewed on a desktop - on an ipad. It seems that this has now been removed in the new iPad view, and I was wondering if there's an easy way to disable this, ie. make my ipad operate exactly like my desktop.

Eg. the drop down menu when clicking on the circular avatar, is a great addition, this should be kept on by default in the iPad view, as are the extra menu items in the toolbar.

Cheers, David
Hi there,

Currently, that how it should behave currently as we want to look nice and cater it responsiveness. There are reason why we applied them that way, as it will look distorted if we maintain them to look same as browser is, as you can see here http://take.ms/Y7J0O.

Thanks for your understanding.

Hi Warith,

Before I upgraded Easysocial and Easyblog, my site was completely usable on my iPad. It basically looked and acted the same as it would on a desktop, and this was perfectly fine.

Now, since the upgrade, my site looks broken on my iPad, and I'd really like to set it back. I don't need the phone pad style menu on my iPad, the new drop down menu with the user avatar looks better and is more powerful.

I've attached images of what I see when I look at my Easysocial News Feed as viewed through Chrome Inspect, as well as the view I get when I look at the same page on my iPad. Clearly, the Chrome Inspect version looks a lot better.

Hi there,

Currently, it is not possible for us to achieve this as that how it should behave currently

By the way, maybe you can try upload attached file at this path ..../template/current_template/html/com_easysocial/toolbar/default.php and see how it goes.

Thanks Warith,

This is quite a problem for me. I use my iPad quite a lot as presumably do other users of my site, and I really need to have the toolbar / main menu system work on tablets as it should on a desktop.

As mentioned elsewhere, it seems like you guys are constantly adding functionality to the components and this is great, but if you remove functionality for a specific device, such as tablets, you really should allow site admins to maintain the existing functionality via options in the back-end.

I've had these or similar issues before, where you changed or significantly impacted the functionality for tablets, and in the past you've applied temporary (and sometimes un-upgradeable) changes to the toolbar and options.

I can't actually understand why you need to remove this functionality for tablets, it doesn't make sense from a business perspective, both for StackIdeas and for your customers. I'm sure a lot of your customers (site admins) use tablets as do their users, and destroying the functionality on these devices is really a big mistake.

For your own business reasons, you guys don't really have a "public" forum for your customers (eg. a FB or LinkedIn group) but I'd bet that if you asked a lot of your customers, they'd be quite annoyed about this.

Please re-consider.

Cheers, David

No worries. Thanks for your help with this in any case.

In the meantime, can I just ask before I look at the file you uploaded above, where is this file from? Is it a modified version of the current toolbar file? I've already spent quite a few hours creating an override.

Cheers, David

I have a better version for them as you can see on uploaded files and apply css codes below. It's original files is situated here .../components/com_easysocial/themes/wireframe/toolbar/default.php Please give it a try and see how it goes.

[gist type="php"]
#es.is-tablet .es-toolbar .is-signin {

}

Thanks Warith,

Didn't update the php file but just applied this css and looks a lot better! Would be perfect if the same menu items still appeared in the menu - is there a way to inherit these menu items as well?
